Well I started a thread here:
http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php?topic=44976.0Discussing thinking about bobbing a triumph, but was quickly talked out of doing that, and steering more towards the 78-84 model XS650.
I'm strongly against raping such a beautiful bike of any kind to create something like a bobber, but if I can find one in poor condition, then I wouldn't feel as bad..

I'm just trying to get some good info, discussing bobber builds in good detail with pics, but haven't quite found what I'm looking for. The best place I've found thus far is a place called
www.650rider.com, although quite a few
decent builds nothing in great detail, so I have been asking away, trying to figure out the best way to go.
I've never been a big fan of stretched hardtails, or long forks, with ape handle bars, and forward controls. Especially when the gas tank is placed inches away from the triple tree. Just seems like it's floating there. Just seems tacky to my taste. I just want something simple and effective.
My cafe build was an enduring one when it came to rebuilding the engine, but all of the cosmetics were more or less a "bolt-on" part. I wanted something a little more challenging, such that of a bobber containing; welding, re wiring, oil tank placement. Something making it unique and my own style.
The search continues.
but yes I totally agree
