I took my first ride of the season today, a 156 miler to Stockbridge, Waterloo, Chelsea and back. It was way overdue, but pressing family needs trump Grandpa's joyrides, and the Michigan spring weather has not been conducive to MC riding either. :) :)

My AGM battery has been great since I bought it in spring 2010. I haven't touched it since then: no tender, no trickle, no nothing after a six month park except beaucoup cranking power for the first start of the season  :) :)
Xtreme AGM permaseal XTA14AHL-BS
2014 EDIT: The battery is now pooped out and wont hold a long term charge. Its on trickle, I'll replace it in the spring or try to nurse it through the season.

Played around our down town area today.

Even found a cool 79 ford for sale..

Good looking 750A Stu. A complete restore or just needed some TLC? I think Marcia would like to ride on that too ::)

Did the 750A come stock with the same aluminum rims as the early Goldwings?

Thanks guys.

I've been down there a number of times as I go for the annual MINI event and took my VFR last year.  I normally just ride/drive the dragon once just to say I did it, but then spend the majority of the time out on all of the other great roads.  US129 is just too busy unless you go early in the morning and isn't that enjoyable for me...I prefer a more leisurely pace without having hotshots riding my tail.  The Cherohala Skyway is a great ride....more sweeping curves than hairpin and much more scenic.  I think my favorite road in the area is Wayah Rd (marked "1310" on the tourist map)....a bit of everything on that road....waterfalls, twisties, high mountains, forest, etc. and it's not congested.

I just love that area of the country and feel drawn to it.  Not to be a weirdo...but here's almost a spiritual component to the attraction for me.  Maybe it's because my roots are from the area?  I can't explain it.  I already can't wait to go back.

Thanks Indy great feedback. I am currently debating whether to head North from Boston and go to Nova Scotia or head South and go to the Deals Gap area and the roads you have just described.

thanks
Andy

I've never been to Boston or NS, but I have been to Deal's Gap area many times. You've got to go sometime.

Speed...that's nice.   8). PM me if you want to hook up for the Snohomish bike show on the 19th. Hoping to get a few forum members out there for a ride and a walk-thru of the show.
