Quite few guys I know travel Romania every Summer - or Ukraina.  There is life East of you, Wobbly  ;D ;D ;D

I have been with Berlin Brigade until 89, and I am probably the last of the "Cold War Warriors" in that city. Nowhere else would you understand the Cold War better than in West Berlin. Although really stationed in K-Town, I am currently mostly in Berlin for yet another year. Believe it or not: I have a small apartment there, but I never even go to East Berlin. When I go back and forth between K-Town and Berlin, I take the old route using Allied Checkpoint Bravo and Alpha. When I am at Ramstein Air Base (I live in a large house nearby with compliments of the U.S. Army), I still feel funny when I see uniforms from countries that used to be members of the Warsaw Pact. A year or two ago, I was brave enough to venture with my BMW into Slovenia (all these new countries that didn't exist back in my day) to drive some passes. The first thing I saw going up the pass was a Russian T-34. A memorial, apparently. So I made it unmolested back to Italy. :)
I definitely wouldn't go to Ukraine--as my opinion about that country and its government, is not the highest. I have not forgotten that we fought the Nazis side-by-side with the Russians, and so I don't care about fascist militias roaming the country. Sometimes, just because one side is no good, doesn't make the other side the good guys. Nor do I understand what all these new member countries (thanks God not Ukraine yet) have to do with the North Atlantic--perhaps NATO should find a new name. As far as Romania goes, I have met a lot of nice people working in Italy who are from Romania. However, that entire villages are depopulated in that country because they all moved to Berlin, makes one wonder if Romania is governed the way it should be. I think not. And that's also what I hear from Romanian women married to Americans.
The route that Mihai took, is on my wish list though. And, if he will keep me company, I am sure that it would be both interesting and pleasant. But before that, I hope to make a trip with him to David Silver in the U.K. He doesn't know it yet, but if we do, the motorcycle museum in Birmingham is also on the "to-do list."
Sorry for drifting off--but you comment holds more in it for me that you could have imagined. For the longest time, anything east of Berlin, simply didn't exist for me. I never even made it to Poland--only a short drive away.

Yes...that camera it is a real rubish! But is all that i got!
And youtube make it worse :)))

I prefer to buy parts for my bike rather to spend on a gopro :))

I understand that, but it's a shame in this case because the road is pretty spectacular. Others insist on having to have the latest, most expensive Go Pro camera--but what they film with it bores me to tears. The route you took is interesting to a lot of people. Taking it with an old but trustworthy CB 550, makes the video twice as interesting as it already is. Thanks for posting!!!

Slovakia mountains are beautiful, definitelly worth the trip.  Nothing against Poland, but that country is mostly flat.

I did the Vršic Sattel and a couple other ones in Slovenia, however. That was nice indeed and not too far from my favorite motorcycle hotel in Iselsberg, Austria. Since I don't always use the Honda, but also the BMW RR, I need a hotel with a complete shop and a trailer so they can come and get me. :)

yes is true...most of the contry villages are depopulated due to emigration to the others EU contrys, like UK. Germany. Italy, Spain etc. even my parents worked in Italy for 5 years.
The main reason is the lack of money and jobs!

At the Lorem Ipsum Vintage MC Rally in Viroqua, Wisconsin. My '75 CB550K is parked right next to the early-50s Vincent in the foreground. First time I ever actually saw a Vincent machine. It started on the second kick.

Lorem ipsum? Did they put out flyers with placeholder copy still in there?
Hah! That's what I thought when I looked up the name. Still not sure why it's named that, but the location is outside a used book store, and the crowd included a couple of people who probably remember what an analog print shop was.

I may be goin' to hell in a bucket, but at least I'm enjoyin' the ride. . .

That's pretty cool. I've done type setting and do prepress, I use lorem copy fairly often, ha. Funny to see that at a motorcycle rally.

I worked with newspaper people for 10 years, seen it more than enough, they used it even in online industry.

The morning drizzle put a few off, but Duanob, my friend Toby, and I set out to cover a bunch of the Puget Sound.

A stop at Fort Casey to check out the big guns.  Scenes from An Officer and a Gentleman were filmed here.

Did a ride through the country in Saginaw county in the great lakes state of Michigan. Took some pics on my way back home from a family barbecue. Deer everywhere, and the smell of corn in the air. It was a relaxing 60 miles.
