Topic: Lets see your SOHC bike out on the road!

Refresh our memory on the "Big Bang" bike Steve. Is that the one that threw the rod through the front of the engine ? This one has an 836 in it correct ? Maybe a bigger bang ?

I was thinking there was a custom crankshaft that Stev-o had installed after that problem that gave the engine more torque,similar to a rephased crankpin idea?
I wonder if someone has tried re-phasing the crankpins to create a 270 degree crankpin set-up ?

Summer around here ends tomorrow, so I took the faithful 750F out yesterday to enjoy the last mid-70 degree weather we are likely to see for awhile. Went on Willow Creek and Pearl Roads north of Eagle as I hadn't been on them for a few years.  Mostly gravel, so I have some cleaning to do today.  The bike was perfect as usual.

Still beautiful up in that area, but developers are eyeballing it, with a development called Avimor already going and slated to spread into the area.  Too bad.


More shots of the road.  Usually I might have been on the GS, but the 750 handled it fine, even with 167,000 mile rear shocks.

I see your bike has a mudflap on front fender. That protect the engine on gravel roads.

I have had oil changes when I had to wash engine first due to sand that has covered the area around filter due to no mudgard.

I've been joking for years that all is left is mechanical damping, the oil having leaked out years ago.

Thanks PeWe, you photos are great too.  That mudflap came from J.C. Whitney and has been on there since the late '70s.  I've mostly lived at the end of gravel (sometimes muddy) roads all these years.

Well I did trailer it to the show but I rode around at the show! Also I'm almost positive mine was the only 750 at the show. After like a million years of messing with this thing I finally have it painted and all the chrome done.

I am just speculating about the tires, but possibly they were put up as a block after someone's cow got in trouble trying to go around the end.  I attached a photo from a different angle that shows there are large gaps between the rails on the side wings.   Once in a while a cow has to be rescued from a cattle guard.  No one has ever gone wrong underestimating a cow's good sense.

Yeah, at first I thought maybe you were at the Classic but then didnt recognize the stage.

The weather was perfect and there was a great turnout, I'd say said and done about a thousand bikes!

It was a beautiful day in Cheyenne WY today so I got the triplets out for some sun.  As you can tell, I like the K1 and have restored these three.  Just finished the red one.

Thanks gents.  Andy, maybe it will be orange again by next fall's colors.  I've been threatening for years to return it to the original color but winter always ends before I get around to it, then I am riding it again.  This year I intend to get serious.

We had a break in the weather a week or so ago, so I gave the K0 a wash and took it for an impromptu pie ride. Over 3000 trouble free miles since I built this bike from parts in December 2020, it's a joy to ride.
