The snow melted away, had some rain that washed the salt from the roads, and close to 60F today.  Supposed to be snow again by the weekend, so couldn't pass up an opportunity to take a ride.

Took the 550F for a fun ride yesterday, it was a gorgeous Fall day, sunny and 70.
The leaves have finally changed colors down here...

That's right! ;D  There another 4 of them out of the shot, a couple of the two-hump variety..

I love both these photos as in each case your bike looks like new! Absolutely amazing condition! And the 3 camels just make it even more special ;)

Thanks Andy, the bike still cleans up pretty well.  It has plenty of 'patina' that doesn't show up in photos, but no corrosion on the polished aluminum parts.  There are a couple of tank dents from the collision (now over 5 years ago) that I haven't done anything about.  They are a reminder (along with my left leg :D) of what can happen if I play in traffic and don't watch everybody like a hawk.

Always a good reminder! I often commute on the K4 through Boston traffic and unless you pay attention every day could be my last  8).

Always a good reminder! I often commute on the K4 through Boston traffic and unless you pay attention every day could be my last  8).

Like you, I rode as much of the year as I could.  I'd ride to work down into the teens if the roads were dry and the forecast was good.  I got caught riding home in the snow more than once, though.  Then they started using mag chloride and salt on the roads.  I didn't want that on the bike so that greatly curtailed the winter riding.  After the collision with the pickup, I had several months while I was laid up to think about whether I was going to keep riding.  My wife, kids and rest of the family would have preferred that I quit. But as I pointed out to everyone who would listen, there were people worse off from car wrecks in the hospital and rehab  while I was there.  I admit that may have been a bit of a rationalization, but still it was true.  It was also true I was lucky I wasn't hurt worse than I was.  I have been riding motorcycles since I was 8 years old, which is 61 years at this point and I didn't want to quit.  So out of fairness to them, I had to give up something.  So I quit commuting to work on the bike.  I actually missed doing that, but I had to admit things were getting nuts out there and it was prudent to stay out of it.  I used to see people do some crazy stuff.  I was always lucky to have been clear of it.  Until I wasn't. :D

Very nice bike!

Thanks Maui!

Thanks to dry weather, so no salt or mag chloride to contend with, I was able to go on the first New Year's Day ride in several years.  It was a little on the cool side, but the faithful 750 fired right up and ran its usual flawless self.  Very satisfying.

Very nice weather around here for the last few days.  It will change radically this weekend, so took advantage of the nice weather to take a ride.

Nice Stev-o.  My daughter and her family are moving to San Antone in May so it looks like more Texas riding is in my future.

we are well over $5.00 a gallon for non-ethanol here but I won't run anything else.
Nice rides!!
Many, many years ago I was on my way back to Jacksonville, Fla where I lived at the time from a coast to coast journey, my friend and I stopped for the night at Palo Duro Canyon park up in the panhandle, a beautiful place as I recall. In the night we did not notice it had rained and the water crossings were roaring, we woke up and realized we were stuck for a few hours. A nice couple in a camper fed us breakfast, they really took pity on two long haired bike riders in their early 20's (red and blue/green K0 750s) from Fla. Fun times

Thanks for the tip. I'll make a point of checking it out.  I've ridden in Texas on four different trips.  I like the country up around Sanderson, Alpine and Fort Davis.  We took 4 days to ride from Texarkana to El Paso one year, taking a roundabout route.  We've ridden down to the Big Bend area a couple of times.  The thing about Texas is there is lot of great riding but long stretches of monotony in between them.  Makes you appreciate the good stuff that much more, I reckon.  I've only scratched the surface of what there is to do in Texas.

A couple of my Hondas (my CB500F is in my garage at my house) waiting for some good riding weather here in Indiana.   Not really on the road but hope this next week to get the 350 out on the road.
