It was the first long ride for the silverback on his honda 750. Went down to Goolwa and then across to strathalbyn, did 250 km's. Sorry about the Harley but he hasn't crossed over yet. :-)

cb550inct,

Where did you get your seat? And how much did it cost?

Its from Benji's, and it was very easy to install,I think it was 450 in fibergalss upolstered. I thinki need a bigger set of rear shocks to raise the height.

Looks like a cupholder, donnit ! It's a Tennessee thing !.......  cupholders required!... did ya know there's an 'open container' law in TN ?
So, if your drivin' down the road and have 4 people in the car you can have 3 open beers/adult bevs. in the vehicle..... lawfully !!

The tank on Nash's bike looks awfully similar to the tank on my '79 Cb650. Are they the same tank? I can see the tank lid is different but the shape looks awfully similar. What year is the bike?

That's not that old train trestle that Jay is always talking about, is it?  I don't recall it being over water, so maybe not.  It kind of looks like that, though.

The weather here this morning was so nice that I decided to run down to Santa Barbara via San Marcos pass, about 60 miles each way. Great scenery all the way.
This is Bradbury dam that holds back Cachuma Lake.

This is Cold Springs Tavern at the top of the pass. It used to be a stagecoach relay station.

This is overlooking Santa Barbara with the Channel Islands in the background.

Santa Barbara Honda. Not many left like this one. "Honda Al" is 85 years old and has been in business for a little over 50 years. The whole operation is Al in the showroom and Jack in service, that's it! I've known these guys for 40years.

The road is about 10 miles long. It used to connect a couple of villages, but after a better road was built, almost nobody uses it, to the point that it is full of potholes and hasn't been repaired for years. Curves and potholes makes it almost impossible to go faster than 20 mph.

The word is spreading and bikers are knowing that road lately. You don't go there for the speed and curves, only for the scenery. On weekends there are more bikers, but on a weekday, it is almost deserted. In the 30 minute it took me to cover the distance, I only crossed with a car. If you stop in a straight and get down the bike, you can hear the silence, so you hear a vehicle approaching. Furthermore, as it will be moving slowly, there are no chances it will crash into the bike.

The cows are so used to the absence of vehicles that they take the road as they please. Same road, but with one of my other bikes (CB Seven Fifty), one year ago.

With a nice clean bike it seems there is a need to watch out for cow patties.  ;D
