I love your bike! That paint is rad! Can you still get helmets with the bubble like that? I've always thought they were cool, but just rode with full face.

Thanks! THe helmet is a knock off but the bubble shield is from Biltwell. They also have rad helmets. Bell also makes them, I believe they are called the 500 series.

Hey RustyOlive was that you with the 550?! We've might of met when my cousins 750 was momentarily stranded in toronto.

That's a bust!  Here in Ontario Canada the speed limit on non-expressways is also usually posted at 80 kpm.  If you aren't doing 100 kpm you are likely being passed by everyone else on the road.  Only if you do over 100 do you face the likelihood of a ticket like yours.

the justification, of the speed camera, is to be a visible deterrent to speed, and help save lives. the interesting thing about this van , was that it was in the medium strip, behind a large bushy tree, and the sign to say that there was a speed camera active was in front of the van, running parallel to the road. so you only saw it when you when 90 degrees to it. yeah ok, i was doin something wrong, i wear that, but dont feed me the BS of saving lives, when its a blatant revinue raiser...rant over... ;D

yeah it sucks alright,,you have to sort of have an eye as to where they hide,,this looks like an obvious great speed trap type of road sort of thing,,they use tradesmans type vehicles here with ladders on the roof and eveything, cars with bling wheels and even displaying "P" plates (probationary driver, holders of  a new license must display these plates,,mostly 18 year olds),anyway, went for a ride today with the little local club, three commandos were with us,man they vibrate when idling, you can see them trying to shake the exhausts off and scattering around on the centre stands.

this crappy phone photo dosent do this bike justice, the owner is a jeweller and every nut and bolt is mirror polished,he dosent spare it though he gets it going along,,the 550 owners will be pleased to know from a standing start i out accellerated all of the commandos to about 60 mph.

I remember now?!! Your cousin's dyna S took a crap, you found a points setup at a junkyard, but no luck with it, so you had to ride back to the US to get a replacement dyna, 'cause they wouldn't ship to Canada?

Correct Scottly, you're a great listener! There were warranty restrictions since the dyna was purchased from the states. We had two options 1) Order the Dyna in Canada and wait however long for shipping or 2) Pick up a Dyna in the states (Z1 was only a few hours away from where we were) and ride back.

There was a nice member from Toronto that offered a better conditioned points set-up but it was the same distance from getting a brand new dyna.

Well, I got her out to RvM today.  The rear end felt real nice now with HM's swingarm bushings.  Met a few of the DTT/DFW guys too.

the original 4-4 900 Z1 pipes sound absolutely brilliant. ive been searching and attempting to design a set of pipes for our sohcs that would replicate the Z1. from idle to 3k you hear is a faint clatter of the top end matched with the low growl of the pipes. after 4k a symphony begins, the exhaust note turns from a manageable deep grumble, into a smooth howl that would bring an R1 to its knees. replicas sell for about 1800+tax, we sold a gorgeous OEM set for 2500. my buddy had an terrible picture of the kawi shop he worked at back in the mid 70s, of the dumpster out back packed full of these 4-4 pipes because the kerker upgrade was so affordable.... :-(

That Z1-R is identical to the bike I owned back in 1981..but the one picture looks Real Clean; I now realize I should have never painted it black..or removed the stock exhaust which I think was an O.E. 4 into 1 like the CB550F.

Can you tell me about that seat? Nice!

Imago - I made it...sort of my attempt at a kawasaki ducktail before I knew where it came from.  Had I known I would have just modified a factory seat and saved some headache!.  I'm in the process of building a different seat as that one is no fun for passengers and because it was my first attempt at glassing anything, it weighs about 200lbs and the finish isnt as good as I would like lol.  Thank you though!

I forgot how nice it looks! Where did you get the seat again and how much? The headers look pretty nasty on top. What's with the discoloration?

I am on another post here talking about how I hate the discoloration. Tomorrow they go for high temp ceramic coating....bad news is i cant ride the bike for a week!

The seat is from Benji's Cafe Racer, its OK, the upholstery sucks, if i were to do it again i would just get the fiberglass shell and have someone local do the upholstery. I remember that on the next one, I have the fever to get another bike
