Took my family on a 8 day vacation to Bass Lake in the Sierras near the south gate of Yosemite. I wanted to ride my 550 up there because it truly is God's country, but my wife wanted me to drive one of the cars we took. Solution: a U-Haul motorcycle trailer at 15 bucks per day. Worked out great- I avoided a 7 hour ride in brutal heat on boring busy freeways, but I had the bike to ride to my heart's content in the mountains. I've ridden through Yosemite several times in the past, but having the bike there for the whole week let me explore some amazing back roads and the natural beauty of the area, including some of the old gold mining towns that dot the nearby foothills. The roads are narrow, twisty, and more fun than an amusement park roller coaster. Tremendous changes in elevation and incredible vistas. Ecstasy for me the entire week. Can't wait to do it again next year.

Yosemite is so close but I have never ridden my motorcycle through there. Hit me up next time and ill go for a ride with you.

I took my nephew with me on Saturday for a nice 150 miler. It was his first ever MC ride and he was saddle sore but smiling when we finished. I loaned him my copy of Motorcyclist "Motorcycle of the Century" issue so he could learn a bit about his ride.
We went from Wixom to Whitmore Lake, Strawberry Lake, Hudson Mills, Hell, Gregory, Stockbridge, Waterloo, Chelsea, Dexter, Ann Arbor, South Lyon and back to Wixom....phew!
The photo is at the party store in Waterloo, and it has a mural/map showing the many good MC roads in the vicinity.

That his bike? That sweet looking 750????????? First ride on one too? MAN YOU GOT SOME BALLS BUDDY! I would be worried he may tip her over.

HAHA maybe but still a sweet looking bike. I would be nervous with a newbie driving mine and they are nowhere near as nice

the kid was the passenger....
.....for the entire ride. He is just beginning to take an interest in motorcycling. I showed him clutch and shifter, throttle and brakes, petcock and reserve, switches and buttons. We talked about the MSF course and CY endorsement. He didn't even ask me to start it or rev the engine. He was happy just to have the wind in his face. When he reads the magazine he might have a better appreciation for the CB and in 25 years or so he can show the picture and tell his kids about his first ride on his uncle's CB750.

Come to think of it, I was just a bit taller and older than him when I got this bike and rode it across the continent.

I probably need to get something a little smaller and less precious for those times when somebody wants to take my MC for a ride.

Commuted into work with the bike for the first time since finishing it.   At 30 miles it's also about my longest ride yet!  I'm still in the tuning phase, but it's running pretty well and feels great out on the highway.  I also stopped into Smooth Automotive (Medford) for an inspection. Highly recommended!!

I snapped a couple quick shots on the Fellsway (north of Boston) and the inspection.

Went for a brutally hot ride along Apache Trail in AZ today.  Clocked about 50 miles and I was glad to get back in the A/C and drink some beer!

I had a great time, just me and the cb350f.  I've never ridden this road, Elizabeth and I will hit it up again tomorrow.  I'm thinking earlier in the day!   8)

Headed to Seattle from Spokane on Highway 2

I took my 550 and my mom took her '85 Nighthawk 700 S

(Just mounted some fresh new Roadriders the day before) 8)

And a little video of me pushing the 550 a bit.... sounds nice and snarly but the clutch slipped a bit going into second. Engine was really warm from the 150 miles we had ridden so far.

Nice looking bike! Is there always a drought in the Austin area? I've been to Lake Travis a few times over the last few years, and it's always real low.

Thanks, this is my favorite bike, runs fantastic with the 836.

No, Lake Travis is not always in a drought, has been been low the last two summers. Still able take the boat out, so not horrible. At this point we are praying for a tropical storm, we need about 15" of rain upstream to bring the lake up 20' to normal.
