'72 Honda CB500 K1. This is my first bike, and after about a month of learning and hard work, I finally took my first long-ish ride (50 miles) today.

I would say they are 6 inch overs, a stock length set and that bike would look nice... ;)

Ha, I'm workin' on it. My friend's dad gave me a stock set off a wrecked 500. Since it's running and I'm finally getting to ride, I kind of have the "if it's not broken, don't fix it" mindset.

If someone could link me to, or PM me, some good fork replacement instructions that would be very helpful.

Looks like it was a great ride!  Wish I could have made it.  I was so bummed when I woke up Sunday am with my back jacked up!

I think this is number 4 on this one, if I remember right.  2 flats at speed in the front and 2 in the back.  All uneventful, except for a little inconvenience.  Ask Andy about flat tires.

Thanks Andy...
I'm on the 2 and 3 photo...(from behind and with helmet)
Here is me from the front and without helmet :)

the tower is a belltower-steeple for the new church up in the hill!

As you can see, that is down hill and dirt road... with cb750 is a little bit tough I think couse the bike him self is to heavy for that kind of road!!
My friend was riding behind me with Yamaha xs400 and he was just fine 'couse he is lighter than cb750...

Nice solo ride today from Brooklyn to Bear Mountain. First time opening the bike up in a while and it felt fantastic. Fast and smooth. That's the Hudson River in the background of the second one.

Thanks. I love this 400f. It growls like a rabid German Shepherd. At about 7K RPM in the higher gears, the already-low vibration suddenly gets even lower, the exhaust tone changes a little bit, and it takes off like a rocket straight through to about 9.5K-10K. Sixth gear is a great invention, too.

It's not the bike I rescued. That one got sold a while back (along with my CL350 twin and CB750F) to make room in my limited time and budget so that I could give this bike all my love. Plus space is hard to come by here in Brooklyn, so owning multiple bikes is a problem.

I always thought Honda should have made the 400F stock in black. Not that I hate blue, red and yellow, black is definitely the fastest color for this bike.

I didn't think that was the bike, just wasn't sure. That was a great thread!

Black does look good on the 400, I agree.  Nice job.
