Ahhhhhh........the old strap the Kerker to the shock mount trick! Were you one of those guys that went out like everyone else and bought a 4to1? I didn't get my first big 4 till around 79'-80' and it was a 74 kawi 900z1. I knew the 2 previous owners before I got it. My friend Harley got it first and it had this bad a$$ 4to 1 that he ran without a baffle. My other friend Robin got it and layed it down taking out the pipe and some other goodies. This bike came from Harley's older brother who was a seargent on the San Jose, Ca. pd. He had some exotic cars over the years also but that was the only bike I knew of. Harley got it around 77-78 so it was when you didn't see too many crotch rocket looking bikes. This thing had custom rearsets, clip ons, the cool 4to1, bullet fairing.........something you didn't see on the street. After Robin laid it down and took out the pipe and the right rear set....I got it. I didn't like the rear set/ clip on thing so I traded a guy for everything stock for all the lay down sh!t. I got new bars, stock length cables, footpegs,brake,shifter..........everything it needed so I got it back to stock form. I never saw that bike with stock 4 pipes. When I got it I put on Jardine 4to2's. I didn;t like the sound or looks of those (too trumpety looking!). After that bike I got a 77 LTD 1000 that had....................of all things the same crappy Jardines that were on the 900!! That didn't last long though because I had come into some cash and went out and bought a Kerker brand new (when they were affordable....around $350 in late 80's).I don't remember where that one mounted but I know it wasn't on the shock.
Anyways....I was just gonna say are you one that threw away the stockers and put on the 4to1 or did you put the stockers up in the rafters for later? I know people that did both!!! I would be pissed if I found out I threw away $1K or so of pipes.
