Lot of nature stuff around Waterloo Kevin ? Seems my sister would gravitate that way a little when she was living in Jackson.
It’s a state recreation area, whatever that means, 32 square miles. It’s like a state park, but not nearly the intensive land use as a state park. There’s campgrounds, group camps, hiking and biking trails, Eddy geology center, antique farm, horseback riding, Haenle bird sanctuary.
The Sandhill cranes use the Haenle marsh in their migrations. I don’t know if they are still considered endangered, I see Sandhill cranes every time I ride. They are a magnificent bird although farmers might consider them a nuisance. I expect you see them in your area Eric.
Seymour road is a highlight for me, I have written about it here before. 14 miles, no trucks, no traffic signals, no billboards, no traffic, just winding through the rolling woods.
