Wow.  Love those pictures of Switzerland and after years of riding BMW RT's it is amazing how small your 550 looks!  Thanks for sharing.  I must say at 65 I am enjoying the size and weight of my 500.

thanks man!
on the way down on the german autobahn the bigger bikes with their bigger engines and screens definitely had the upper hand. not so much on the small mountain roads. i'm not 65 (yet) but do enjoy a small nimble thing.

Looks amazing FL!   My daughter just booked a flight to Zermatt, I am very jealous [she wont be riding].
Thanks for sharing

thanks steve! was a great trip. good company, epic roads.
i do like the alps all around but the remote parts or switzerland are something special. i used to roam them quite a bit in my alpinist days. zermatt has some famous peaks around. is your daughter into climbing?

i'm not showing the bad parts  8)
nah honestly, even the bad weather days were fine. we just loaded up on beers and bought some great steaks and other food to cook on the campsite and made the best of it.

Yes, she climbs "14'rs" in Colorado [mountain peaks over 14,000 ft elevation] but this will be a ski trip for her in Feb.

I found an article of the top 25 ski resorts in the world and Zermatt was #3.

https://www.planetware.com/world/top-rated-ski-resorts-in-the-world-us-co-88.htm

I've only been to six of these, none in Europe, yet!

cool!
i misunderstood, thought she was heading there now. indeed, feb makes more sense for skiing.

i'm not a big skier myself. used to to some winter mountaineering where i used skis more as a utility. i can get up and down a hill or mountain but on the downhill part i'm not that good and certainly don't look pretty  ;D

I found this big hydrangea bush along Strawberry Lake road this morning.

Hey Kevin....great shot.  I'll be at Strawberry Lake next week!
My good friend has a dcottage there, no bikes though, he's into classic cars.

Strawberry Lake road is nice and quiet, nice scenery, good pavement. M36 is a bit too busy these days. Way back when, the college guys rented a house off season on Edgelake near Petty’s rd…. fun times! I may have broken a rear spoke launching my CB at the Kress road RR crossing.
If you’re going to any car shows send me a PM and I could make an effort to say hello.

Have not heard of any car shows but if I do, will send a message. One of our routes is West on Strawberry Lake Rd to South on Mast; West on Territorial; North on Dexter Pinkney; McGregor to M-36 to Merrill back to Strawberry Lake. Sometimes with a stop in Dexter or Zukie Lake Tavern!

Agreed, M-36 has too much traffic most times.

here's a recent trip through switzerland with the cb550.

passes we rode were: susten, grimsel, furka, klausen.

Amazing pics, keep looking from the bikes to the mountains and back.
Did three out of four in 1977 and a few times more later.....on a Z650. Have to look up Klausen.

klausen is nice. it's a smaller, more remote and exposed road then those others. we had also wanted to do nufenen which would be similar in character and higher. weather didn't permit it, though.

great pics Shtone....I used to ride from Kalamazoo to Milwaukee without getting on the freeway for more than 10 or 20 miles.  So much scenery, history, and culture...but it took like 7 hours lol   In all the days I have spent in Detroit, still have not been to Belle Isle.

Thanks Sean, are you talking about up and over lake mich or  under and through illinois?

I have yet to take any of the non 94 routes to chicago that both put me somewhere between 7-9 hours of travel time. Im going to do it, one day.

I can't really compete with the Swiss Alps here in Oz, but here's my K0 from my ride on Sunday. Well over 3000 trouble free miles over the 20 months since I built it, and still pushing all my buttons every ride. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

i am talking about under...through Indiana and Illinois...but have done over as well.  Thats a long ride.  I have sworn off Chicago for the last several years, but Milwaukee is such a great city.  On I94, Kalamazoi to Chicago is 2 and a half hours.  Milwaukee is 4.

Yeah, so skipping the freeway takes a lot longer...Kalamazoo to Detroit is also 2 and a half on I94.  One time a big group of Kslamazoo friends were going to a chopper show in Detroit.  Me and my buddy Chris, who you met when i bought that body set, were all hung over and couldnt decide if we wanted to go.  The big group took back roads.  Finally, 2 hours later, me and Chris decided to go.  Me on a Vf500 and him on a Buell xb9.  We did 100 mph all the way to Detroit.  One gas stop.  Got there before the big group of back roaders lol
If it works good, it looks good...
