Andy….. I have to ask. Is that a K7/8 tank? Any issues fitting it to a K4? Thanks.
Yes this is a K8 tank painted to look like a K4. The bike is a K4 (I also have a K4 tank with same colour/graphics). At the time I wanted a larger tank for a RTW trip (which fell through). I had to modify/shorten a K seat pan (and then had a custom seat builder make it into a seat) to make it fit. Really love the way it turned out and now I have 200+ mile range per tank.
Andy…. That is a very cool modification I may just have to try! Years ago, I spotted a K8 that a fellow had slightly modified. He cut the back 10” from a rotten K8 tank, welded it to his seat pan and had a custom seat made. The “bum stop” at the end of his single seat was painted to match the tank. One of the slickest ideas I ever saw, and I had no camera!
Speaking of bumstop seat, look what I bought this morning from a local fb market place ad....
The real deal from Italy.
I also got a very nice(early???) stock K2-K6 seat from them.
Anyone know the deciphering of the date code sticker on the stock seat??
