Yes it's a great morning to ride. I took yesterday off to ride my 750 over to spend time with my mom in Somersworth on the Maine border. Got back at dark.
I didn't stop for pictures as I didn't see any good shot locations along the way. But I did get a picture of my mom(98 years young) and the lunch my sister made. It was a good way to spend my birthday.

On Huron River Drive, just east of Dexter. It’s a nice sunny day just beyond peak color.
I should have taken the phone mount off for the photo.
Andy, it’s been 10 years, 10! since your first calendar effort. I just realized that.
I tried to recreate that photo and I think the 2013 photo was better.
That calendar is still hanging in the back hallway.

Looks like that could be a fun road Kevin.
Have your colors been more muted this year? Here in southern NH they sure have been. The usual very bright sugar maples just turned brown and dropped off earlier than I remember. Way more yellows even.

If your summer and fall rains have been less than usual, that is why the leaf colors are muted or turning brown and dropping quickly. Moisture equals color if the trees are adequately hydrated before the cold weather that triggers the leave change of color and dropping, then you will have decent or good color.

Odds are the sap yields for maples will be down, yielding higher prices for maple syrup.

Actually this year we had an abundance of rain.
Last year was very low on rain.
As to Maple syrup yield, this past spring we had a good yield (I've been living with friends that boil and we boiled @ 200 gallon of syrup, last year was a little better at 232 gallon).

It’s been rainy here, this was my first time out in 3 1/2 weeks. I have missed the peak colors. We had a big leaf drop yesterday, and another this morning.
I almost stayed home to rake leaves.
Somebody slug me in the arm if I ever try to do that again!

Today is our last day of Indian summer, another 78 degree day and then......the bottom falls out, for a few days anyhow. 😢 I'll probably drain the carbs and the oil out of the 750 this afternoon when I get back to the shop and put in fresh oil and filter, and inject the Marvel Mystery Oil in the carbs to keep them pickled over the winter slumber........looks like I'll be riding the Goldwing to bike nights if they happen for the next few weeks. This Wednesday's probably not going to happen at this point according to the NOAA forecast 😕. Ah well... I have had a few good rides this fall.

Epic ride today - 4 hr drive to have lunch at the Scottish pub in Chester, VT. Temps were unseasonably warm at 75F or so. Leaves were falling everywhere and even though the colours were more burnt it was a beautiful ride up and back with mostly empty back roads.

Left Boston at 8:30am
First stop Groton, MA

Continued up Rt31N passing through Brookline, NH finding some graded dirt roads

Onwards….

This was a fairly sandy dirt road
Lots of fresh blacktop

Plenty of typical New England architecture

I liked these plants no idea what they are called

I love riding through falling leaves

Finally lunch at the Scottish pub…haggis, tatties and neeps….so worth it!

After a quick lunch it was time to head south

Vermont farmland

Endless empty roads and beautiful roads just what a 750 needs

The bridge to New Hampshire - old and new next to each other

Then it was backroads to Massachusetts

Ended up being a 300 mile day
