New fish with a 78
« on: January 09, 2009, 05:56:50 AM »
Just being polite and saying hi. My name is Don, I'm from the Poconos in Northeast pa but I work and spend most of my time in Allentown pa. I am in the process of repairing a 78 CB750 SuperSport I am doing just some mild work to it. The seat pan is rotted so it's getting a cafe seat (as soon as I find one I like). As for the rest of the bike I am just painting it, throwing on a 4-2 exhaust (really don't like 4-1) and cleaning up the general look of the bike. I'm here because I am looking for parts and it seems like a great place to find what I should know about the bike. Already through searching I found how to take apart the gauges.

Welcome from sunny San Diego!   This site is the best!!!   Always someone online around the world, so when you're up at 2am in Allentown asking a question on how to get that @#!":$% camchain sprocket to line up, there's someone in Australia who's just checking it out and sending you an answer before they go to work, AWESOME!!! ;D ;D ;D   Post some resto' pics if you haven't already!   -Tim

Hey from Portland Maine.

My family has a place in "Holiday Pocono" near Big Boulder.  I would go up there as a kid and was back at the cabin 2 years ago.  Great place for riding.

I've dissasembled my 78F for a cafe treatment, and about to get to painting.

I could swap you a set of 2 into 1 period Mac exhausts for your F exhaust if its in good shape.  I'm particularly interested in the muffler.

All the best.

I may have other F3 parts you would be looking for as well.

Cheers & Welcome to the forum.

Hey Don,

I am new here as well. I am working on a 77 F2. Just got the engine apart and will be taking it out for bead blasting tomorrow. I look forward to some of your posts as you move forward with your project. I am sure we will run into some of the same issues, so we could be a great resource for each other. Either way welcome and I think we both are in good hand with this forum.

All the best.

Thanks for the welcome guys. UnCrash I wish I could but unfortunately my muffler had pretty big hole in the side of it. I've only just gotten it running so it's going to be a little while before I get finished pics up but if I get a chance later I'll have to put up a couple of how it looks now.
