Mrs Egar, if your husband does not buy this bike you should! :D
Look on it as an investment, in parts alone the $500 will be small change.
Failing that consider crating it up and shipping it to New Zealand where you can have a free accomodation and my partner will show you the sights while I make room in my shed (do we really need a dryer?) for it. ;D
I think the thing I most like about motorcycling is the speed at which my brain must process information at to avoid the numb skulls who are eating pies, playing the ukulele, applying make-up etc in the comfort of their airconditioned armchairs as they make random attempts to kill me!!!!!!!

I've found a 1972 750K in Ohio, and it's all original with 16k miles but he wants $2500 firm.....
 and thats a 72'!!!!

Just imagine what a 70' would fetch??? :o :o :o

Still wish I could put out the money for this one....but once you've payed cheap, there's no going back (or is that forward?? :D)

Cheers

I'm back from my trip. Left with my 17-y-o son this morning and took a pleasant ride up to St. Augustine. I said to Tyler as I pulled in the driveway, " I pray it's that turquoise color." And so it is!

The good -

* The guy who owned it was the bike's second owner and he had it since 1974. The previous owner, I'm guessing, lived in California. When we stopped for lunch on the way home, the original owner had written her name and address in the owner's manual (yes, this guy is a lawyer and was meticulous with records). The bike has 8200 miles on the clock.

* The bike is complete. Everything is there including the original but rusy pipes and the airbox.

* He included a whole KREME kit for the tank - three bottles of stuff and the receipt for $60.

* He had begun to disassemble the carbs in hopes of restoring it, but he organized all the loose pieces in styrofoam cups and boxed up everything else he removed.

The bad:

This guy lives on a barrier island and the years of salty air have taken their toll. The frame is pitted with rust - worse than my 550 was when I began it (see my shop thread on that bike). The pipes are there but really bad, one pipe has a hole all the way through the center before it splits into the two exhausts.

The seat is shot. Most of it is covered in electrical tape.

The paint is original but rough. No apparent leaks though.

Did I mention it is rusty?

The key is missing, but I will contact him because I bet he forgot to give it to me. This guy is meticulous.

My digital camera broke last week. I will get one from work and take photos Tuesday night if anyone wants to see it.

I will let this bike sit until I finish the 550. I'm in the home stretch with that bike.

This bike should be made original. The 550 will be my cafe bomber.

Coastal living will pit a bike good. Congrats though. Great color.  That key could be expensive if its the plastic headed one. Tool kit? Good find.

One of the boxes contains the tools from the tool kit in a coffee can, but no tool bag. The air cleaner box is in great shape.

This whole 750 thing is going to be all new to me as I have only owned 550s as far as cb's go....should be fun looking for parts and such. Now I get to search for two models of bike parts!!! More money to burn...

FYI DO NOT let gas get to that airbox it will destroy it, don't ask me how I know. My first and only street bike was a 70 750 till just a couple of years ago. I bought it new in Japan in 70 and still have it. I would sell my other bikes if I had too but not the 70.

It is the model with the vents on the side covers.
Also, I thought the headlight bucket and ears would match the tank and side covers but they are black.

The tank, headlight bucket, fork ears, side covers and air box should all be the same color and not black. I would guess someone repainted any of the parts that are black. That's what happened to mine. I've since had it repainted to one of the original colors for the K0. How about some pics?
We'll all be someone else's PO some day.

I will post pix as soon as I snatch a camera from work. My digital camera died last week.

I just ran out and wrote down the numbers from the frame and engine:

engine cb750E-1040248
frame  cb750-1040047

Is this good? Remember, 750s are a new realm for me....

There may be a build date on the frame tag also. Looks to be built right at the end of 1970,just squeaked in. Good job for running and getting it for all of "US".Looking forward to your pics and enjoy/

What does this mean that it just squeaked in? Is this a special model?

It means Honda built 44,650 K0s (or thereabouts, give or take a few) if you go by the frame vin numbers: 1000001~1044650. Check the link below for more specifics.  Just means it was at the tail end of the run.

Thanks moham. The education begins.
I've also been reading up on the FAQs and it sounds like there's no way to find a true paint code for the forest metallic green or whatever I just read that is the color of the bike....

Well done mate, and welcome to the K0 club! While it's sitting there waiting for it's eventual resto to begin, save yourself some future heartache and every few days, spray every nut, bolt and screw on that thing with a liberal coat of penetrating oil, so that when the time comes, you can unbolt everything without taking the thread with it.

Being a late K0, it may or may not have the very desireable "wrinkle" tank, (worth more than the 500 bucks you paid for the whole bike) as you got some "Kreem" with it I'm guessing it might have some rust holes, whatever you do, don't throw anything away, that K0 stuff is worth a fortune, even in poor condition, so as you've already mentioned that you're no 750 expert, use the resources here and ask, before you act, it'll save you a lot of grief in the end. Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

"Crazy is a very misunderstood term, it's a fine line that some of us can lean over and still keep our balance" (thanks RB550Four)

And for those very hard to find KO parts don't forget Yamiya.com located in Japan.  They came through for me on many parts I just could not find on eBay, etc.  Their shipping from Japan is faster than places in the USA.  And their parts are all quality.  Welcome to the KO club and have fun with it.

Thanks for the help guys.

I have today off thanks to MLK and my wife is working a 12-hour shift, so you know where I will be all day - with my three babies in the garage. I'm going to focus on the 550 before I start messing with the KO. That sounds so lovely to say, KO. I can't believe I have one, even if it is rough. If I don't get the camera from work today, I will bring it home tomorrow and post lots of pix.
Terry, I will hit everything with lube like you said. At least the bike is away from the coastal air.
Johnie, I will check out the site and bookmark it in my Honda folder.
OldTimer, Thanks. I remember when I first came on board in 2005 and didn't know sh#t from shinola about these bikes. I hope the 550s have helped me prepare for the KO. I love to say that. KO.

Hey egar here is another little link about Honda 750 that shows what color they came in and serial numbers etc. That will be a machine someday to be very proud of and a good investment for the future.http://100megsfree4.com/honda/h0700/four.htm
