'86? What do you guys think...
« on: January 14, 2009, 08:26:02 AM »
Hey everybody, long time since I've been active. I've been somewhat busy with life and various things involved with it (and not my bike sadly).

Anyway, I was doing a quick browse of CL and came across a CB650, the guy is saying it's an '86. I'm looking at it thinking the engine appears to be a SOHC rather than a DOHC... Or am I just not familiar with the 650 at all?

Let me know what you guys think, I'm tempted to grab it.

I believe the 650 SOHC was available from 79 - 82 inclusive.

And definitely a SOHC in those pics, so not an '86.

Looks like an '81 CB650C...due to pic. showing air assist forks.
I have a pic. in my Honda Identification Guide.
Hope this helps,

Might have been registered last in '86?
Possibly it was a slow seller, and hung around at a dealers shop for a few years, and sold for the first time in '86?(unlikely)

Yup, not an 86 at all.  83-85 CB650SC was a Nighthawk, different bike entirely, cast wheels, triple disks, two cams, and shaft drive.  I don't think they even made one after 1985.

I think worldwide(- the USA) it was available until '86 or '87.

But the US market bikes (cb650) are a tad different than what the rest of the world got.
