Fuzzy- buy a light bulb!

Here's a picture of how I used to ride before helmet laws.
Here's a picture of me wearing a Davida,
and here's a picture of my HCI.
The HCI fits my oval head better, and is DOT.  The Davida would bother my forhead after a couple hours, and isn't DOT (legal).  Although Inever got stopped while wearing it, I finally got paranoid.  Also, the HCI has way less wind noise.
I like my half hemets, and yes- I've had get-offs while wearing them.  I don't know if it's a matter of accepting the responsibility of my actions, or I just don't care.
There is also JP Helmets that look godd and are DOT, but I have no experience with them; http://www.jphelmet.com/catalogue/landnew.html

PS;  I finally had to shoot some cear coat on the HCI.  That matt finish was killing me.

I'm rather attached to my jaw, that's why I rock a full face lid...
Every once in a while, I'll wear a 3/4, but that's as far as I'll go...

Cool link on the JP Helmet. Thanks!  I have one of those HCI retro as well and like it.   Shame they are not making them anymore.

I ride in 1/2 most of the time on the heavy cruiser, but have two shoei Full face and leathers for play days on the other bikes.  As with anything - helmet choices are about limiting exposure and risks.  There is not a one answer that is right for every person, but as other alluded to the better helmet, the better chance you have should something go wrong.

Full face/modular for me, evertime she starts moving.  I've had my jaw broken before when not on a bike, and I imagine the process is worse when it takes the skin too.

I had to ditch early in my riding career coming around a curved hill when a van with no brake lights came to a sudden stop.  I was only doing around 25mph, but I landed chin/face first on my belly as I rode down the driveway I slid into.  Thankfully I had an leather jacket on with padding.  My passenger never touched the ground as she landed on my back and stayed there until we stopped.

That's the day I learned to wear gloves as I picked the bike up and rode it home with rashed palms.  Just got a pair of pants to throw on over my jeans or work clothes so I won't have trouble walking for a few weeks next time I go down.

There is no way to predict which way you are going to fall. I went down in my own driveway two months ago on some wet leaves. I would have hit the back or side of my head, so my full face would have done me no good. I can't predict how I will fall in the future so I will use a full face.

I wear a half lid. I will get a full face some day but I really like the peripheral vision and how I can hear better. I know if I go down I'll wish I had a full face but I also know if I get side swiped by some #$%* changing lanes next to me I'll wish I had on my half. I just hope I don't go down no matter what I'm wearing.

Hey, every time we get on the motorcycle we're taking responsibility right?
So, if your cool with a half face it's cool with me.

But, I now go full face all the time so as Bobby said, or should I say what he meant,
I'll end up in the coffin better looking than both Dave and Bobby.  ;D

I just like a shiny helmet, I guess.  I shine my boots, too.

(Don't care as much about the bike...)

I really like the peripheral vision and how I can hear better.

Neither should be issues with a well fitting full coverage helmet. The aperture of modern full coverage helmets is designed to be wider than the 'at rest' visual field (hence the reason that GP jockeys can hurtle around twisty race tracks on 200hp bikes). If you wear earplugs (you are wearing ear plugs??) the full coverage will not compromise hearing, specially since there is less wind noise.

Many styles of goggles (like mine) fit over glasses.
And, yes, you can have presciption goggles made.
I discovered prescription sunglasses and I'm really sorry I waited sooo many years.

Bobby - I'm thinking since the three of us wear full face, the southern gentleman must think he started out better looking?

At risk of sounding trite, take a cheese grater (parmesan side up) and stroke it up and down your chin, applying about 25 pounds of pressure.....

Yes, it is ture that Rhett Butler never wore a full face either. Niether did Gen. Robert E Lee.

I lost my damn glasses today wearing my half shell.  :(  Looking for some goggles to go with my new prescription since I went to the eye doctor after I lost my glasses.
