original color

If this question has already been asked, sorry cause I couldn't find it.  I was wondering if there is a number code on the vin # that tells the original color of the bike from the factory.  Any insight would be appreciated!

BTW,  the freebie is running great (thanks to your help!) and I have put over 900 miles on her since the end of Oct.

At the top of this page click website then sohc bikes it tells the colors available by year but no paint code. 78ks were only one color.

So, the strategy is to lie to people you are asking for help?

I think I'll be busy going for a ride.

Good luck!

Uh....no, 1978 cb750Ks were offered in two colors - Black and Candy Alpha Red. Colors are listed here:

there is nothing that will tell you the original color. The closest you can get is if you have the original tank, tun it over and look inthe tunnel and see if you can tell what the original paint was. If not take some stripper to it.

Anyone got an example of Candy Alpha Red?  Now I'm cranked.  I have to make my K7 and K8 look different somehow ;)
