750 will 74 motor fit in 75 frame
« on: January 16, 2009, 10:04:31 AM »
will a 74 motor fit on a 75 frame?
the 75 has disc in the rear which i consider better than drum
the motor on the 75 is a f motor but seized
plus both wheels on the 75 are good
the 74 frame has a bent rear wheel

74 is going to be a K frame. If your 75 has a disc in the rear it is probably an F. Yes the bikes should be a direct swap (although there is probably going to be an issue if you needed to swap internals).

a bent rear wheel is not a reason to throw the bike away. Bent other things are.

and the drum brakes on the rear generally work better than the 75-76 F rear disc.

To my knowledge, all 69-78 motors will fit in all 69-78 frames excluding the CB750A Hondamatic.

Agreed.

The only "minor" issue I'm aware of is the output shaft.  69-76 share the same "fit" for a sprocket (530 sprocket with a locking retainer that takes 2 bolts) and the 77-78 share the same (630 sprocket has a single center bolt and washer to hold on the shorter output shaft).
