I need some help from the "Scroungers" out there.............
« on: January 16, 2009, 03:31:46 PM »
Ok, so Bryan and Big Jay have helped me out greatly with info for my MTC 72mm pistons, I need some new rings for a Honda GL1000 so I can build my 1060cc engine. I had a look at DSS and CMSL and they're too pricey for me, (remember, I am just a poor Aussie with the Oz dollar only worth about 60 US cents at the mo)

I've been scouring EBay with no success, (one turkey wanted 63 bucks for rings for ONE piston!) does anyone else have a better lead? I don't want to pay any more than 20 bucks per piston, if possible? Help me out guys, and I'll drink an Aussie beer (or some fine Kentucky Bourbon) and burp the national anthem in your honor! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I've had good luck with "mrsuperdeals" (or it might be "mrssuperdeals") at eBay for MC and Rocky rings for the vintage bikes. Typical price is uner $35 per set of 4, and they are decent rings. They have a lot more parts than they ad for.

Make mine Kentucky Bourbon, please...  :D
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

I've bought from these guys before while working on a GL1200, though they're still pricey, they are cheaper then $63:

Thanks Guys, I thought about "Rusty Riders" too Mark, I bought a couple of sets of rings from them and you're right, they're great. I sent 'em a message yesterday, but haven't received an answer as yet.

Mike, thanks for your help mate, 36 bucks is better than 63 by a huge amount, but I can buy genuine rings from DSS for under 30.

Mick, I haven't asked Rex yet, but I doubt that he'd have any, when he sold his share of the dealership he took all the CB750 stuff, but not much else, and that was so long ago I doubt if he'd have much left anyway. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Well I'd prefer new ones of course Paul, but I wouldn't mind a used set just to make sure they do fit, you got some? ;D
