And you thought YOUR bike could fly
« on: January 17, 2009, 05:30:04 PM »
Saw this on another forum and thought it would be appreciated here, sorry if its a repost

A few years ago my brother decided to make his motor bike fly. As a flyer of light aircraft, he was frustrated by the fact that, if he flew to any remote location, he was left with no transport at the other end. So using only parts purchased from his local hardware store and an old hang glider wing, he created the Sky Bike for his 350 cc trail bike.

It takes about 10 minutes to convert the bike for flying, and about the same time to restore the bike for normal riding at the end of the flight. The video shows the maiden flight of the Sky Bike, in Western Australia.

I find this video very inspiring. It's like modern day Steam Punk and makes one believe that anything is possible. I thought you guys might enjoy it.

Great ingenuity! How much does it weigh compared to a conventional powered ultralight?
