Ecosse, there are 2 discrepancies  between your little stories and to-day's society.

a. compared to our parent's generation, we're a bunch of wusses.
b. the son bought himself a HD, so he's not only a wuss but he's  a prat too.

Just doing some hard line stereotyping. Here, most of the HD riders are folks who have more money than sense of adventure. City brokers and the like.

I like the bit where Mom and Dad had a language/communication problem when they first got married. I still have that issue with my missus and we've been together for 21 years!

To your first part I think that was his point. His parents proved they were no posers by iron butting it. Otherwise I agree with your stereotyping. Hey, stereotypes begin in truth don't they (say yes)? Though not married I can relate to the communication issue with the opposite sex.  :D

God I love 'em though.

Iron Butting.

I love that description. I think I'll adopt it when I describe people who work hard.

Up to now I've used the phrase " they're putting in their 9 to 5 everyday" i.e they're putting in the hours to achieve a better life.

But now on I'll say they're iron butting it.
