« on: October 03, 2005, 08:39:23 PM »
I picked up a parts bike yeaterday and i'm stoked.

Parts i can use on my K1...

stock rear wheel (the one on the k1 is a little rusty)
complete F2 front end with alloy spoked wheel and dual disc set-up installed and good fork brace
good metzeler tyres
new rear shocks

Other parts for a future project...

Good F2 engine / carbs
rearsets
racer sytle seat pan
spare head

various other useful bits

I need a clean K1 / K2 frame now - hopefully that will turn up next

CB750 K2 - Wanted - More time to work on her
CB1300S - the most awesome bike i've owned yet

That front wheel sounds like an early Goldwing item, they had the thin discs and alloy rim as standard, and i reckon the disc spacing etc is the same too? What frame did you get with the parts bike, Brooksey? Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hi Guys,

Mutters -
I'll try to get a few pics on the weekend and post them here - stay tuned

Terry -
I think the front end is F2 but i'm not sure - she was used for post-classic racing at some time.
The alloy rim is one with the wide flanges - (racing type rim??) could be gold-wing - i don't really know, but i'm interested to find out.
can't say much more than that just now as i haven't been back into the shed since i wheeled her in there on Monday.

I think the master cylinder is K series - eg :- weak as cat's piss - the brakes feel like spaghetti... some work to do there.
I believe a bigger master cylinder is the way to go - any suggestions?

The frame was K1, but it's been hacked about and bits welded on and is not in great shape.
I would like to get hold of another frame to build the "Special" (loosely along the K9 lines) but we'll see

I'm off to a big swap meet in a few weeks to look for a frame - here's hoping.

I had a bit of a look at the bike before leaving for work this morning.

Rear shocks are Koni's  :) and they look new (orig. Koni's not Ikon's)
Fork Brace looks good quality  :)
Front tyre is a Metzeler Macadam  ???

Still have to look closer at the forks etc. to see what they're off

Thanks Davo -
a good K1 or K2 frame (at the right price) would be great if you know of any
That's my #1 requirement at present - but there's no hurry

Hope your project is still progressing mate.

The Bendigo Swap Meet is on the weekend 11-13 November, I've been going there for the last 23 years and sometimes there's lots of good bike bits at reasonable prices, and sometimes there's only crap. I'll be going this year so if you like I'll have a look for a frame.

I could have bought a complete rolling F1 (less engine and cosmetics) last year for 50 bucks, but I'd already spent more money than I'd intended, ha ha! I'll keep an eye out for you mate, I've got a ute (Aussie SUV, ha ha!) so I can pick it up and take it home for you, then ship it up to QLD? Cheers, Terry. ;D

No worries mate, I understood that, I just mentioned the F1 rolling chassis to illustrate what was available at Bendigo, I've got a spare F2 frame here, but didn't offer it to you becuase I knew you wanted an early K frame.

Your front end looks like either CB450 or CB500 forks with twin caliper conversion. I wouldn't bother with them, an F2 front end would be a much better proposition mate, you could either use the much better F2 calipers or because of the more "user friendly" caliper mounts, fit any number of better calipers (I've got spare Brembo's or Nissin 4 piston calipers that I'd be happy to sell you) that will work approx 15 trillion times nbetter than the ones in the pics.

I like the fork brace though, very nice, and the front rim looks like an aftermarket "mudcatcher", possibly a spanish Akront rim laced to a standard CB hub. Very good pick-up mate, for sure. Cheers, Terry. ;D
