yes, I can. here they are:

2005 the bike came in an wooden box:


it came from norway, had been restored and was in best condition.











doing some restoration work on the engine (I wanted to minimize the oilleaks. instead of 5 leaks there are now only 3 :)


race ready again



since the arrival of the bike I did approx 3-4000km, all troublefree (except one time with a broken main jet needle).

one funny story, I remember:
it was summer 2005. my girlfriend had driving (motorbike) lessons on the area used for practice. there are two painted handling parcours, one easy with wider turns and the other with really narrow turns. the instructor asked if I wanted to try the parcours. I said "this one" and pointed at the narrow one. he said "never, impossible, much too difficult" and was in hope that I would try the easy one. I had a close look at the difficult one and thought "there is a chance". two minutes later and managing the handling parcours without a mistake the instructor needed help, getting his jaw of the floor. I said, this was easy with the left hand throttle, foot clutch and ignition timimng on the right hand :)
the miracle was the benevolently fork stops and the willingness of the 101 for narrow turns.

 I just love the 101, it is considered the best handling Indian..
 Nice clean styling

 I will post the sad story of almost having a 101 later.

Well I certainly am surprised by the lack of posts on this one....

           Okay, I started on a response shortly after this was posted and had to stop to take care of some things. So, here goes:

          This should make you sick as it sure did me. Some time ago, my Granddad made a deal with the carnival folks (that came to Little Rock every Oct) that ran "The Wall Of Death" at the Arkansas Fair and they left most of one of their bikes with my Granddad (it was the frame with fork and engine and he rebuilt the engine and put it back in) and when they returned the next year, they picked it up and left another one. Every year, they would pick one up and leave one. Well, when my Granddad died there was one sitting at the top of the stairs and had been there for several years. Seems they never came back for that one. Also, there were numerous parts for Indian motorcycles from the 53' - maybe 46' Chiefs, the Warriors, Scouts (V-twins & Vertical twins), Arrows, Braves, some Royal Enfield parts, Jawa/CZ and no telling what else. All these years up until about 2 or 3 years ago, my Dad told me that ALL of that stuff went to the SALVAGE YARD! :o I could not believe it! :o  THE SALVAGE YARD! :o ::) If nothing else, just the Indian Parts could have brought plenty of money and I figured that somebody like Sam Pierce probably came and  bought the stuff up, Especially that old 101 Scout! :( My Granddad had a homemade boat trailer that had a pair of the old Indian Chief wheels on it and I guess that was junked out too! :( My Dad's 1st motorcycle was an old thirty something Scout that he had to put together (like he had me do with my 1st one that I could legally ride on the street. only thing was, most of his assemblies were complete and he just put them together, whereas he had me put everything together except the crankshaft and the wheels-what a turkey ;) ) .     

      BTW, that 101 is SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8) ;)

I better get around to my 101 tale soon..

One thing I am not happy with on the 101, is the upper half of the motor, it is a bit plain, compared to say a HD JD.

The 101 is a 45ci, or at least most years were.. but they are much peppier than their anemic competitor the Harley 45..

 But the coolest 101,s are the OHV conversions, those were the hotrods.. :o, a few have recreated them, they are truly a cool bike!

 I really like the clean lines of the 101, really is a beautiful motocycle..
