And the rear  Does anybody know where I could get solid rims-or what years and models would bolt right up to the 78-750k. I have no clue. Was thinking of maybe new spokes and colored rims but still not quite sure....luder

Solid rims? If so lets ask a few people on the forum, they know way more than I, Did get a small putt on the harley yesterday, seems that winter  has been quite long again...luder

Well my spokes are shot so maybe solid wheels (mags that I could bolt right up) or new spokes then paint my rims. Carb intake boots (mine are all there just stiff as s*(t) tired of fighting them. I will need new tires of course. Seat cover waiting on confirmation (ebay) Probably replace most of the hardware with stainless (bolts,nuts,screws,etc...)I'm pretty much using everything that was on the bike but you always run into trinkets. Then hopefully get her up and running....luder

Broke down and bought spokes for both wheels (about 30 a wheel) which I didn't think was to bad. Found some carb intake boots and offered the guy 85 bucks (is that a good price?) they are new. Hate to start putting money in to her but if I don't she will never get done. If anyone needs some spokes (some of the old ones would clean up to a point) let me know. When I'm done with this project I will get rid of what I didn't use, luggage rack, sissy bar,etc..........later luder

i am kind of the same situation luder. mine spokes/wheels have seen better days. how difficult is it to lace a wheel back up. that's what's kept me from diving in. $30/wheel sounds pretty nominal. are you going to paint/powdercoat rim and leave spokes chrome?

I am going to blast and paint them up. Never laced a wheel so it will be a learning experience for me. I have access to a inch pound torque wrench and a dial indicator so I quess we will follow directions from this site and the manual. I found the spokes on partsnmore seems that was the best I could find, luder

luder... PPG/house of kolors, etc wetshot paints are very fragile compared to PC.  PC will be able to take the rocks, dirt, and use and come back for more as the PPG will most likely chip, etc after use.  Just my opinion.  But I also plan to paint my wheels with PPG so we'll see how it goes.  Great looking bike thus far.

Thanks for the tips on getting old carb boots back on, did not go easy and I would think that if I have to do this frequently I would buy some new ones. Have not done much on the bike lately I am going to have to start again here one of these days. Question do the throttle cables run behind the horn, thru the frame and on top of the motor?  Thanks luder

Such a pain in the arse- after getting the boots on- tonight I thought I would put the pipes on and play (just to fire, yeah right) put the tank on,gave here about a gallon of gas-she leaks out of 3 carbs(I believe the bowl o-rings), plus the petcock. Is there ever an end? I just wanted to here pop just once. I think we will be getting new points, etc. etc... I know we are not giving up, is there ever an end....Happy Easter all.....luder

Well after letting the carbs sit she sealed up(its a miracle I tell ya) Found a bad wire to the coil, cleaned up the points and I now have spark. I mounted the tank, turned the gas on and she fired. Shes blowing out the exhaust and rough running (not even) but its a start. I am going to look for an adapter for my compression tester and see what we read on all 4. I kind of got excited hearing her pop for the 1st time. Sure is quiet compared to the shovel. I will keep you posted. ? for you all do you replace the exhaust gaskets, as of course I didn't even see them.......luder(keeping fingers crossed that the motors ok)

Just scored a point (plate set) off of eBay,that's on its way. I am going to order me some new plug boots (resistor type and they can go bad I guess) Then I will make me up some new wires and we will see where that takes us. One of the wires on her is different so I assume po had a problem before and the others are pretty hard. I better get the seat blasted and some paint on her as my new cover is sitting here.....more questions to follow I am sure,,,,,thanks luder
