With Anticipation
« on: January 20, 2009, 08:21:42 AM »
I'm waiting at work in anticipation to President Obama's inauguration speech. Something tells me that it will be a great speech.

I was listening to it in the background on my work PC but CNN.com kept dropping the feed so I gave up...something tells me that I will get to hear the highlights oh maybe once or twice over the coming SEVERAL WEEKS!!!

I know some people do not like him or anything he stands for (even though they would think different if he was republican) but one has to hope the next 4 years will see a turn around. We have to hope things will get better not only at home but abroad as well. I really feel that there are countries where an American would now be shot if people found out the person was American.

I do not hold much hope of the deficit going away are even down a good amount BUT if we can get our country moving forward again, that alone would be a nice change and would set the stage for the reduction of the deficit.

Great speech. And I think he delivered exactly what the country needed to hear. Some pundants are already saying it fell short. I'm sorry, I think the last 8 years fell short!

Funny thing with those pundits is that if mccain had won and used the EXACT same speech, they would have been calling it the greatest speech in the last 28 years.

Great speech and a very positive message.

It's been a little rough around here since Sept 2001 - I think the country feels like picking itself up and getting back to work.

What matters to me is his socialist views.

Wether republican or democrat we all need to agree not to participate in the recession/depression! That is the only way to move forward from here. I hope for our sake that Obama can do some good because he is all we have for a president for the next 4 years.

I have to admit that I was a bit heavy-handed with my viewpoints last night,
but I'm serious as hell about NOT changing the Constitution.
I can't believe he even made that statement.

I also can't believe that there are so few conservative motorcyclists. Not just here but on the
other forums I belong to. :(

You are not conservative, no one is. It is a right wing created idea that no one holds to. After all, if people were as conservative as they thought, then why is our ecosystem so shot? Why are these "conservatives" the ones with most of the SUVs guzzling gas? It was the "conservative" view that brought our economy where it is now. Remember, republicans LOVE to say they are conservative and they have been in power for a long time.

As for the constitution, are you blind or deaf? Have you not seen the damage done by bush? Read the patriot act just once and you should be shocked beyond words. You talk about obama being socialist? Bush wanted to be dictatorial.

Give obama a chance. there is so much screwed up he probably will not have time to screw up the constitution more.
besides that, if more people such as yourself actually voted THIRD party for Baldwin or Nader, once they rech a certain number of votes, they qualify to get funding like the dems and repubs do.

Stop looking into the past so much and stop listening to people like limbaugh and coulter. If we followed people like them, humans would be extinct in less than a decade!

Yeah Eldar its always bothered me too that conservative, liberal, communist, socialist, facist, labels are bandied about, it seems that some people need pigeon holes to use, so that they can understand the world around them. As far as your constitution or anybodies constitution go they do have to evolve, if they don't you get the equivalent of the dark ages where the church ruled for a long time because they didn't want their power eroded by new ideas. #$%*, on a completely different note I just caught something out of the corner of my eye got up and watched a wolf motor through my front yard, just what we need to amuse the cat, I guess I'll wait for the snows begin to leave before wandering to the back of the of lot and pack a big stick, Maple about 4' long when I do.

he he he....I missed this ever since the election threads ended (not really!)

The one part that scares me a bit (being Canadian) are his views on free trade and desire to eliminate the trade deficit currently in place between our countries (deficit on your side surplus on ours). I am ok with the possibility of renogiating certain NAFTA agreements as long as it is done fairly (i.e. softwood lumber etc)
