Found this bike in completely stock condition in Feb. 08. Paid over twice what my new one cost 30 years ago. Am trying to re-create the look of the late 70's Drag Bike styling.More later. 4-2-10 It ain't stock any more and I have no idea what I am trying to create !

I think my K8 has the same front wheel as yours.... shiny rim and rusty spokes...

Must be a style fad.

george, what exhaust is that on your avatar pic? I'm thinking a 4-into-1 might be the way to go next....thanks everyone

Yep.... real simple.... Buy new ones.

I blasted mine - rusted.
Acid dipped - rusted.
Wire brushed - rusted.

Each and every time I coated them with this gel coating supposed to be like thick clearcoat. In the end new ones were the only thing that didn't rust in a couple of weeks.

I have heard that re-spoking/lacing a wheel is super hard...did you do i yourself? And...if so, how long did it take?

The first time I ever laced a wheel I had an expert showing me how to do it. Took FOREVER but in the end the skill was worth the time spent. Now looking back it's almost "easy".

Remember I said the words "skill" "expert" and "FOREVER".... I had lots of help. Even if I got yelled at, my father was extremely patient with me.  Only hit me twice  ;) ;D ;)
