I use 10w40 castrol, and 20w50 in the peak of the summer heat. ATF in the forks, and DOT 4 for the brakes. Castrol chain lube, and distilled water in the battery when it needs topped up.

oh, I love these threads.

I thought everyone knew this is the kind of lube you're supposed to use:

....also a good chain lube  ;D

I run the Honda HP semi-synthetic 20W-50 non-moly formula.
Valvoline ATF in the forks, DOT 3 in the brakes, Honda DriLube on the chain.

Don't forget "Cable Life" (in the green can) in the cables!

Rotella 15W40 non-synthetic, made by Shell, sold at WalMart for around $10 per gallon. Works well for me.

Yeah, and this one has been pretty civil. I have to look into this cable lube mentioned here, so I got something out of it.

This could be of topic, but I would like to know nevertheless. I've visited the USA a couple of times and maybe I will go there again. Does Walmart still fire employees as soon as they find out they are member of the union?

A couple of years ago, 130 employees at a Walmart in Quebec joined the United Food and Commercial Workers Canada. That was easy but coming to terms on the first contract with head office proved impossible.  Walmart decided to close the store permanently saying  unionizing  "would have fundamentally changed the economic model". Walmart has similarly  closed at least eight Tire & Lube outlets in Que. and Ont. since for the same reason.

Gribbs, i was a photog, but that is from a Gentlemans Site. I started something called the babe thread on here. That chick was not on the babe thread since she is butt naked in all the pics. If I like the face, I crop out the rest of the body.

What I don't understand are the rural folks that don't make the connection between walmarts strangulation of small businesses and their own dying small towns. I guess everybody loves low prices, even if it means shooting yourself in the face (economically, of course)...

It is a bad circle. People want to save money since most of us that shop walmart do not have much money anyways. I shop walmart, I do not feel bad about it. I go there for what I need and thats it. I buy decent stuff, not the cheap crap they have. After all, if I can get the same model tv at walmart and some other place but pay $100 less, which makes more sense? Rotella at one place is 15 a jug, but walmart is under 10 for the exact same thing, it makes better sense money wise to go to walmart. See walmart is able to buy huge bulk and that allows them to get lower prices. Now the argument can be made that it closes small business but how many people do those places employ? Not even a quarter. The average start wage around here is 9-10 an hour, target is 6.25 with NO better benefits. So why is walmart so bad when they do better than target does while charging less?

I change Honda-shop ATF fork oil in Wallmart parkinglots. Let them clean up their globalized mess for once. The owners of Walmart do not live in my community, and do not fairly employ my neighbors such as Fox Valley Honda does. (No offense to the Wallmartians)

Its worth the $1.23$ per quart extra to me.

I've seen it in many motorcycle shops, and even some lawn equipment places. (I think I've seen it in McMaster-Carr as well) It's a small can of lubricant with a long nozzle that fits into a special clamp that goes around the end of the cable. When you press the nozzle, it pumps the lube through the cable sheath until it comes out at the other end. It works fairly well, but I have to wrap a rag around the clamp as some of the oil inevitably sprays all over.

Well villa, name a place that treats it workers good while not shaft is customers? I have not found a single one that does both. you have to go where you can afford to shop. Thats why I go to harbor freight instead of sears or especially the over priced snap on. Funny thing is no one #$%*es about harbor freight even though really, they are like the walmart of tool stores. They must not be big enough to pick on yet.

Yes, but you need to ask how they arrive at the discount. On the backs of who? They are making it up somewhere, you can be sure of that. Only the short-sighted would assume that those low prices just happen. I will spend a little more dough at a small, local business every time because having a viable local economy is important to me. Support your neighbors, Eldar, not some jack-off zillionaire in an Arkansas manison (do the walmart peole still live in Bentonville, you think?).

That's why I stated that it changed after Sam Walton died, as my mom calls it "wallyworld" isn't the same as it used to be. The new ceo's have "different" plans for the corp., hell they even changed the formula for their "ol roy" dog food that Mr. walton created for his dogs, we had to change to another brand because our dogs suddenly wouldn't eat the crap.... I truly do bieleve in small business. I try to go to the local hobby shop when I can instead of the net. I try to go to the small pet store for crickets and misc food for my boys collection of bugs rodents and hermit crabs, I also try to go to the smaller bike stores too like say for the cable lube. Hell I even had to go to a small Kawi motorcycle shop to get a custom throttle cable made for my honda elsinore because the big honda place wouldn't even touch it....

Considering the larger the town the less "small" stores you have. I think the whole argument is moot. Sorry but if the prices are too high, I go somewhere else. Simple as that. I can get a large box of cereal for my kids for under $3 at walmart when at the grocery store, it is $4. Same groceries as any other store but cheaper. Why then would I go somewhere else? To support the little guy as he employs less people and does not offer any better benefits? As you should have seen by now, our economy is tied nationwide and globally. Sorry but when you have no disposable income to speak of, you cut costs anyway you can think of.  What I find funny in all of this is that target is a carbon copy yet I bet you do not hate them do you, even though they pay their emps even less with less benefits.

Anyways, this is about fluids. My bottom line is I will get what I want, where I want and that where is usually the place with the lowest prices.

No offense intended Eldar. Due to economic times I too have been spending money in places I would rather not. My kids need shoes too. For big ticket items I shop on-line for the best deal, but I try to hit up the Honda shop for smaller bits. They have been there for me on Sat mornings, when I would have been stuck in the garage without a chain, seal or whatever. I would rather spend a little extra to help keep them in business. Sorry to derail the thread.

Something like that I completely understand. I mean, if I need computer stuff, I go to newegg. They have great prices and good shipping and their return policies blow most stores into next week. But if I need a filter or something low buck, then I certainly have no issues with local.
