Bought it from a guy in jacksonville who posted it here. He got a cb900 because he was tired of fooling with it. He was the second owner in 1973-4 and in 81 Had some major engine work(improvement) done on it @ 12,000 miles. It then sat for 18 years gas, sissy bar, seat, extended forks and all.
My guess is that the parts for these things were running out of stock @ local parts places and being replaced with stock for newer bikes. That would also be a bit before the internet parts places were up and running. But it is only a guess.

I am the second owner. It is a 78K. It was only registered in 1979 and it was put in a heated basement. I bought it for $100. The owner raced Porches and he and his friend bought twin bikes. His friend was T boned in front of him. He parked the bike in the back of the workshop. It is a rolling restoration.

Funny thing about regret is...... its better to regret something you have done than to regret something you haven't done.

The 76 CB750F1 that I bought from a neighbor in February sat for 25 years until I fired it up in April.  Now has 7000 miles on it.

My bike, a 74 CB500, sat for 14 years in a shed with it's cylinder head off. A friend of mine gave it to me so the price was right. The first order of restoration was vaccuming the mouse stuff out of the cylinders. The motor is now done but I haven't touched the frame yet. My goal is to have it ready for next years vintage festival in Ohio.

that's cool, when I worked for DirecTv I came across so many unfinished projects under lean-to's and in garages it wasn't funny.

I ran across a featherbed cafe once, about 10 years ago in Brooksville. didn't know what a cafe was back then. wish i would have known, I'd have talked him out of it.

My buddy got a 16 Harley at an auction arond 2000 or 2002.
He talked to the old guys at the bike place that had it and they remembered it.. they said the parked it around 1942.. :o

Anyway the day after the auction he had it running, and it had B.C. reggie so he transferred it a put insurance on it.  It didnt run real clean and after a few rides it blew one of the old tires on it..
The day I went to see it , it didnt want to start, but he figured it maybe needed a bit of work after all them yerars..

Cool bike tho, love that thing, last of the Gray Fellows..

most of his bikes are 1920 or older.. he also knew that guy quite well, that had the sandcast with the DOHC conversion way back.. its been mentioned on here a few times..

My 78 750, was until a few months ago sitting in a garage or carport(dont know which) since about 1985, with the carbs off and disassembled.  it took me a few months to make it all work right, still needs bearings and some other misc stuff I havent gotten to yet.
These bikes dont die, they hibernate until the right person wakes them up again.
