Has anyone adapted a Suzuki Early '80's GS1100 boxed aluminum swing arm to their CB750?

There have been many threads here about such things. I have gleaned that the GS series swingarms are doable. 750,1000,1100. diferrences in length and width, but the pivot point works. Oh yeah, you have to do something about shock mounts.

piece of cake for a good welder.

This is a modified GSXR 1100J swingarm in my K4, apart from removing the monoshock and shortening the arm, it bolted straight in.

If you like i will take some more pics when i take it out for polishing.

Swingarm placed upside down in frame to give a rough idea on clearance.

I also used a GSXR 1100 K front end. The interesting thing was that the atandard Honda steering stem pressed straight into the GSXR triple clamps.

I have one right in front of me now, from the center of the pivot bolt on the GS1100 arm, to the start of the chain adjuster slot is exactly 500mm, so its roughly 100mm {4 inches} longer. I'm having one cut down at the pivot end for one of my 750's ,1 inch longer than stock, its also about 18mm wider at the shock mounts, so the shock mounts on the frame need reworking to suit...

Nice swap. 8)  I was  told that in general Yamaha was  lucky with fitment over any others, but I guess machinists do whatever they want on stuff. Pressing it in and if fits is as good as it gets.

I just measured two Stock swingarms in a K6 and a K2 frame and it was 415mm, the GS1100 arm was 500mm. so the Suzuki arm is 85mm longer...  It looks like 1080 has a 77K frame and arm,  which has a longer swingarm than the earlier K models... ;)

Interesting but, those measurements regarding length are over all length, the length should be measured from the middle of the pivot to the start of the axle adjustment slot,  quite a lot of swingarms have longer adjustment slots, so measuring overall length gives a false reading on where the axle sits, which is the more important measurement... ;)
