4-1 non-cb can swap
« on: January 24, 2009, 09:03:06 PM »
I have been seeing a lot of cheap 4-1 cans on Craigslist, offered cheap by upgrading owners. If I can find a reasonably priced, non-futuristic looking can, I would like to graft it to my 750s header. I would be willing to weld up an adapter and paint the thing, but in the end, I do not want a nasal screamer. While I am turned off by the noise of most crotch rockets, I'm guessing a low revving CB sounds much different through the exhaust of its peaky contemporaries. I assume even a new, quiet exhaust would be more efficient than my original K5's; and I would be OK with that as well. Several modern cans have shown up on your bikes, but I haven't heard them.
Any ideas?
Thanks

CBR can on a CB750A Hondamatic 4-1 is too quiet for my taste but the inlet tube was the exact diameter and all I had to do was move the top mounting tab and repaint.  So quiet I can hear all the engine rattles now  ::)
