The biggest tragedy of all is that I remember in the '60s, before they became 'boutique bikes', you could pick up a tidy example for just a few hundred pounds. If only we knew then what we know now. ;)

That bike appears to have two rear sprockets.  One with a chain and one without.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

To quote Wikipedia:

Vincent used quickly detachable wheels, making wheel and tyre changes easier. The rear wheel was reversible, and different size rear sprockets could be fitted for quick final-drive ratio changes.

That is actually kewl.  I would have never guessed that.  Thanks for the info.

In many ways the bikes were ground breaking. The problem was that 'ground breaking' meant more cost. At a time when the majority of motorcycles on the road in England were strictly utilitarian, not many could afford the luxury.

Why not buy a new one, with a frame like 'Mec' has built, from the late Mike Hailwoods son.
