and so far all the sites named in this thread, have nothing from the Riverboat Gamblers  >:(

and as far as viruses , if you know what to avoid it's fine ,    mostly mainstream music and porn is where the viruses are , so as long as your taste in music doesn't suck , and you get your porn elsewhere , you'll be A Ok ;)

i just found some of their stuff on limewire. you have to be REAL careful about what files you try to download though.

I bought an iPod on eBay it came with 1500 songs. I liked about 800 but its the fastest way to get a lot of songs that I've ever done. A lot safer to I was careful when I downloaded I like all kinds of music so I guess downloading isn't for me to risky.

Hey guys,

If you're running torrents and downloading content with "questionable" copyrights, be sure you're running a P2P Guardian in the background.

I use PeerGuardian 2 (http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/).  It's free and automatically updates, maintains and blocks lists of IPs which are known anti-p2p and anti-piracy sources.

Just to make yourself a little bit safer (though I can't help you out with the viruses!)  ;)

it's a way to download , on a much bigger scale

i.e.  instead of downloading one song ,  your downloading 3 albums at once

I use azureus. Stopped bittorent/tornado years ago. Azureus will start uploading /downloading where you left off if you shut the computer off. My favorite sites are

http://www.dimeadozen.org/
Dime only lets in 100k members so keep joining everyday til you get in. These are mostly live recordings of whole shows. some video. E tree has lots of recordings from last night/week and such. Good stuff. Ive never had a virus problem.Good luck.

Good luck!

i would be careful with piratebay. they had a problem recently in the past so you never know "who" is watching them.
But thence came the Great Schism, when the two like tribes diverged, and the Bobbers did take the Road to Cruiserdom and the Cafe Racers did ride to Sportbikedom and they did pollute the lands along their paths with their abominable spawn of Choppers, Stuntaz and like manner of unholy douchebaggery

I use btjunkie with Transmission.  They tend to work well, but the music I like is often too obscure to find. :(

what the hell is a torrent site?

i had no idea what this stuff was a couple years ago but a buddy of mine finally explained it all to me. first you need a torrent downloading program like "utorrent" (as is the greek letter "mu"). after you installed it, then go to a searching website like "isohunt" and search for whatever. download the file and it'll ask you what you want to open it with: select the torrent downloading software. after the file is done, boom. you have downloaded the file.

i use to do this for music but my school had a subscription to Ruckus and it was free for me. If you want free music, try pandora.com. it's like an internet jukebox and it's free without the worries of downloading viruses.

i think torrents work by downloading from numerous people instead of one specific person like p2p (old school napster). it's like playing hot potato with a file without the potato ever being dropped while people can come and go

I mostly use isohunt......and have bitcomet as a torrent program......seems to work okay,al though download speed isn't always impressive ,azurus had lot's of trouble with my router and for some reason could never get over 10kb/sec. download.....bitcomet iv'e seen at 300kb/sec but on average it's around 50kb/sec.      so far no virusses ,but then again I get my porn live out of the bar...... ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Marti, I want you to know, I like you an awful lot, but guys have said far less and left wearing their drinks on their shirts.
