I went to a swap meet over the weekend and a vendor who knows me said to me "Hey I got some Nitrous Oxide carbs you might be interested in."
 He got this box out and showed me that it has "NOS"  "#-300-" and said " These were $300 carbs and they are set up for Nitrous Oxide, see" and pointed at the writing on the box. So I looked pulled them out and looked at them and heres what I saw.

 CB750 657B carbs, clean as a whistle inside and out. They show no signs of being used and the choke linkage, idle speed screw, top rubber boots are in new condition. The only thing that has me wondering is 1 of the float bowls is discolored, but the rest of the carbs are in new condition(but with a little dust on them).
 What would cause the 1 bowl to discolor? They show no signs of having gas in them. The float pins can be pushed in and out with finger pressure and the brass jets still shine like new. I have had a bunch of carbs in the past, but I have never seen a set this clean.
What would they be worth?

NOS stands for NEW OLD STOCK

Nitrous oxide has nothing to do with carbs.

Nitrous is injected into the inlet manifolds (in our case the rubber inlet boots) or into the air box or straight through the carbs choke.

 I know what NOS stands for, but the vendor I got them from didnt know it. The vendor thought they were NITROUS OXIDE CARBS, I knew they were NEW OLD STOCK CARBS.

I guess I should have put in the original post that they were New Old Stock Carbs, not Nitrous Oxide carbs.
 I guess I shouldnt assume that the people who are on a message board that is dedicated to 30 year old motorcycles would know that NOS would usually stand for New Old Stock.

Well Fishhead, the answer to your question about why the one bowl is discolored is that the varnish, or clear coat has discolored. Could have been heat or fuel or sunlight caused that. It may well be a bowl from another set of carbs. Are the vent hose nipples strqight on the bottom or did someone bang them around and bend em.

The vent hose nipples are straight. The discolored bowl being near heat or whatever makes sense as that end of the box was in really bad shape and the plastic bag they were in was also deterioated (SP?) on that end.
 I still cant beleive how clean these carbs are. I've rebuilt many carbs and the one thing that gets me is the float pins can be removed with fingers instead of wrestling them out with tools like what usually needs to be done. Usually the metal bits (bails, choke linkage,fuel feeds, idle speed screw,etc) and the rubber top covers are in pretty used up condition with the toll that years take on them. These carbs would be the finishing touch to a restoration.
 They will probably be listed on Feebay in the future.

Very nice, very very nice, They're worth 80% of the asking price, no questions asked.  I'd just tell him you've always wanted to run nitrous on a bike, but haven't got a huge budget...and then stand there staring at HIM, ignoring the carbs, waiting for an immediate answer. 

A few years back on ebay, I picked up a nice set of carbs for my K3, the owner claimed to have taken them off of his K4 in 76 in favor of a single carb setup. These carbs got drained and blown out, wrapped in newspaper and shoved in a box on a closet shelf.  (he couldn't tune 4 carbs...?)  Got them for  $80 or so.  They're pretty darn nice, all rubber bits and hoses are still very nice, the little springy hose clamps still nice and zinky not rusty, and arrived in the box he packed them in in 76, old newspaper and all, but they're not as nice as your pics show those to be.

A set of carbs on eBay will run you 80-120 to start with.  Then I'd always go through them and clean/replace stuff.  Kits are 12/carb.  So, getting a decent used set ready to go will cost you around 150-200 and that's assuming you don't find anything catastrophic inside the carbs.  I'd expect to pay $250-$300 for a set like that and they'd be worth every penny IMO.  Probably bring even more on eBay at the right time.

So fish, it was not immediately clear to me from your original post, but did you buy these (I'm assuming you did)? If so, what did you pay? Surely not the "$300" the guy said they were supposedly worth, being "set up for nitrous" and all...In any case, I'm sure you can make your dough back and then some.

Incidentally, I just bought a K0 motor/carbs from a guy for fairly cheap (ok shape, nothing like your "new in a box" stuff) and the funny thing is, he just called me back asking if he can trade me back some 72 carbs for the K0's as he "just got a 69 and wants to keep it as stock as possible"...my answer: "heeellllllll naahhhh...."
