550 rim swap
« on: January 26, 2009, 07:35:56 PM »
Howdy, I am swapping the stock chrome steel rims for alloys and have had a lot of troubles getting hold of a decent 19"x1.85x 40 spoke rim for the front. I already have a 18 x 1.85 for the rear and can get old of anysize 18" i like. So I'm thinking i will put the 18" on the front and get another for the rear. Has anybody put a wider rear rim on, and if so how wide did you go and where there any clearance problems with either the brake stay or the chain?

I'm running a 2.5" x 18" on the front and a 3 x 18" on the rear of my 550.
The only clearance issue would be the 110 front tire and a stock fender.
I don’t have any clearance issues with the 130 rear tire using a Dresda swingarm.
The stock swingarm has even more room that the Dresda too.
