That's nice.  I can appreciate both the before and after versions.  Amazing how smooth that engine could idle and run when everything was adjusted right.  Is that a Corbin seat or did you have the stock seat re-done?

I wish I could have kept my R80, but hurricane Ike made a mess around the house that required some cash.  There was just a nice solid feel to every part you touch on those airheads.  I can see why they hold their value -- it's the only bike I haven't sold for a loss.

This thing runs so good it's almost hard to believe. It is a Corbin seat.

man, i'd love to get my hands on a /6 fixer-upper. when i actually worked on beemers for a living, it was ultra rare i would look at one of the systems or parts on one of the motorcycles and think "poorly engineered" only thing i didnt like was the fact that they used cast gears in the trans, though they would still ride and shift ok with just 1 or 2 of the shift dogs left.

I'm thinking someone must have changed it over the years, it was on when I got the bike about a year ago. All the specs I've seen for 75's say it came with a solid rotor.

Geez that pic brought back memories Ken, I "inherited" my older brother's R69S back in the 1970's, it had a chrome plated frame and "Dunstall" megaphones, my brother bought it from an oil rig worker who won it in a card game, it was a great bike, but the clods at the local Kawasaki dealership advanced the ignition and leaned off the mixture, causing two holed pistons!

Anyway, they fixed it and big bro rode it around until he locked up the gearbox, and rather than fix it, he bought a newer R75, and gave the old one to me. I joined the army before I got a chance to fix it, and I think he sold it for a couple of hundred bucks. Boy I wish I had it now, with a nice "Steib Replica" chair, it'd be sweeeet! Hang on to that beauty mate, they're only getting rarer! Cheers, Terry. ;D

I have had it for about 20 years now. It has been in the family since new.  I recently did a 12 volt conversion so that it is safe to ride at night.  I have spent a lot of money to keep it going over the years. Everything from brakes to gearbox, clutch and pistons.  It helps to be a BMW trained master tech.
I think I will keep it.

I think it looks great too, but I also think it looked great before the "street chic" conversion, either incarnation in nice condition would be a great bike to own. Cheers, Terry. ;D

It's funny you should should say that because that was exactly my plan. I looked at every R90S I could find which wasn't many. And the price of anyhting decent was crazy. One of the reasons I chose this bike for this project was it had been repainted and the original pipes were gone. As you know, a bike can only be original once. Also the original fender, hb's, blinkers, seat etc. are all carefully packed & stored. If and when I would sell it, anyone would be able to make it look like the first picture without any trouble. Nothing has been cut.

Those are both nice. I prefer the after. I bet that backrest is worth a few dollars.

Yeah, you have any idea how much? It is a Reynolds and still has the Reynolds sticker on it. I would like to sell it. One guy told me $225-250.

Nope. I didn't know there was another SK. I'm on Jockey Journal & HAMB as Speed King. Thanks for the info.
