1972 cb350 idle air screw and idle speed no effect
« on: October 25, 2010, 03:19:23 PM »
I am having issues with my left carb, where even after cleaning with carb cleaner, the idle air screw and the idle speed adjustment have no effect on engine speed. Could anyone shed some light on what's going on?

Thanks

you need to do a bench sync of your carbs, and get your slides all down to the same level (1/8") when the idle adj screw is touching +1 full turn.
use the search function to look up how to do a bench sync.

Actually Flybox I think he is working on a 350 twin.  There is really no sync you can do except to adjust the cable pull as evenly as possible.  I'm also having a left cylider issue on my CL350, mine is the fact that it's not 100%.  It only gets warm not hot, so I'm still trying to figure out if it's fuel, ignition, or air, or something else.

I run my idle air screws about 1 and quarter turns out from full seat.  They are also 34C (or D carbs, can't seem to remember right now), sounds like they still might be some dirt and debris in it.  I would pull it back off and use some wire and compressed air, and clean it again.  Also the idle jet is under the rubber plug in the bottom of the carb so be sure to pull the plug and clean there too.  I haven't ever removed the jet, but i think it screws out.

Plus do a good tune up on it too, if one hasn't been done in a while.  If the odo is right on mine it has 22,000 on it and i have no idea if anyone ever adjusted the valve or cam chain so I have some work cut out for me too.

That's all I got at the moment, PM me if you need some more info and I'll try and help ya as best I can.

Don't worry I thought the same thing, until I happened to see that he had said it was the LEFT side carb. ;)
