Character Building
« on: October 20, 2008, 11:13:50 PM »
Whew...just got home from pushing my bike a couple miles, and boy are my arms/legs tired! And I thought I had already gone though all character building exercises possible in my life, but I was so wrong. Thought I'd share.

The bike's electrics did something not so fun on the way to work. The main fuse blew, the battery was dead and it wouldn't kick start for me. I had to leave it at Ft Snelling light rail station..thankfully I was close.

I got off work, and pushed from there to 42nd st and Nokomis. I took a rest and said to myself...what the heck, I'll try and kick it over again....so I did this for a few minutes...and I got a little something. I tried it again and got it running! So I gunned it, picked my jacket off the ground like a pony express rider getting a parcel and drove like a bat out of hell the better part of a mile home. I guess Karma thought I had had enough.

Now I just have to figure out what's wrong :) Just happy to get home. Ugh...I have class at 8am. G' Night!

Nice story.

Moral is......never give up on your trusted Honda.
Can you feel the warmth swelling up inside on this cold autumn night?

Glad you made it home.

So then you can imagine the route I took...

Ft Snelling light rail station up Minnehaha. Across 62 to Hiawatha. Back on Minnehaha on the sidewalk past the VA Medical Center. West on 54th Street (where I got pulled over by the cops to ensure it was indeed my bike). North on 34th Ave. I think I went West on 44th or 43rd Street. North on Nokomis to 42nd.

Good times  :D

I think basically all of the smoke got out of my electrical system and I'll have to find some spare smoke to put back in. Maybe try Ebay for that? :)

I honestly don't know yet. I ran out of time and I don't have a heated work space for the bike. As soon as things warm up around here...

Supposed to have another heat wave this weekend, we'll be up testing/drooling at Hopkins Hitching post, may buy a bike for the mrs.  I pushed mine a mile or so once, didn't like it.
Enjoying life, one day at a time.

I thought only the guys with Lucas electrics had to install new smoke?

FWIW, someone was actually selling genuine NOS Triumph/Lucas electrical smoke on fleabay a few years ago.  Wish I'd copied the page, was funny as hell!
