16 inch rim on a cb550?.. WTF????
« on: January 30, 2009, 07:31:06 AM »
I know.. Its bizzare!!... ???.. But Im stuck with it..
Anyone know where I can get spokes that would lace up a cb550 rear hub to a 16 inch rim?...
The spokes are too far gone to try to salvage...

Any help would be MUCH appreciated

Thanks

I do not know if the hub is the same on a 550 versus a 750.  If it is the same, check out TAS Motorsports.  I think they are about $15 a set.
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

If I remember correctly, the 550 hub is a little smaller than the 750 hub but not enought to make a too much of a difference.

Yeah I ran across a 16" rear rim a few weeks ago when we dug a 75 cb 550 out of 3' of iceplant!
All the was sticking out was the brake resivoir and grip!
Would like to hear what you findout, might be a donor for my current project!
guess who?

I cant tell you enough how AWSOME the guys(Mathew) at www.tasclassicmotorsports.com are.  We have been emailing back and forth all weekend and they have helped me find parts they didnt have listed.  I am looking for a set of 21" spokes to fit the 550 hub.  TAS found a 21" centre drop rim for me but couldnt get the spokes.  Does anyone know of a place other than Buchanan?

Thanks TAS. www.tasclassicmotorsports.com
