Buzzer issue in CB 350F Four
« on: May 26, 2005, 06:13:31 PM »
Hi all,
I just got my very first bike this past weekend and it's a '73 350F Four. It runs perfect and needs no work on it, except there was one weird issue. There is a very loud buzzer in my bike (not the horn) that would go off when the key was put in the park position, as well as when the bike is running and either the headlamp or left turn signal were being used. Even more odd, the buzzer would not go off if I'm idling but it would once I gave it a little gas. Again, only when the left turn signal &/or headlamp were on. The buzzer would also shut off right when I'd turn one of these off. So, someone suggested I just disconnect one of the wires from the buzzer as long as it doesn't affect anything else. I opened the headlamp and found the buzzer, and randomly picked a wire. I disconnected it and put heat shrink wrap on the disconnected end. The buzzer doesn't go on anymore and everything still seems to be working as it should. I am completely new to motorcycles and not very knowledgeable about any of this stuff. Do you think it's okay how I handled this, or would you suggest something else? Is there anything I should be aware of by what I did?

Thank you very much for your help! ;D

When I got my 73 CB350F it didn't have a headlight and all the wires were disconnected so I don't know for sure but I don't remember a buzzer. I know you don't need it. Maybe a PO added it. Here is an excellent site with an interactive wiring diagram so you can make sure that all the wires are connected correctly.

Good Luck.

my 76 550F came equipped with an annoying buzzer that went off when you
activated the turn signals.  I pulled it out pretty early on and nearly forgot about it having
been there in the first place.

Thanks. So, do I not have to worry about a short or anything since I covered the disconnected end in shrink wrap?

You should be fine with the heat shrink.

The CB350F did not come with a buzzer so it was an add-on by the PO & seems to have been mis-wired.  I would remove it unless you have trouble cancelling the turn signals.  If you need it, connect it properly, in parallel to the flasher lamp in the instrument cluster.
