Brake light removal
« on: February 01, 2009, 10:23:56 AM »
Alright so I'm taking my break light off, did a quick search but couldnt find anything.
I have a 1977 CB 550 and I'm wondering if the wires will just pull out from the light or if I need to cut them?
I'm pretty positive that on the blinkers they just pull out but I gave a little tug and it was pretty tight.
So cut, or pull?

Is there not a bullet connector somewhere under the seat or further down the line?
I don't have a motorcycle, sold it ('85 Yamaha Venture Royale).  Haven't had a CB750 for over 40 years.

I looked and if I disconnect that because if would also disconnect a bunch of other wires it wouldn't be able to fit through the hole in the fender that it needs to go through.

I'm with Giga on this one.  I just did this on my 750, is the 550 really that different?

If you follow the three wires back down to the wiring harness, there should be a plastic shroud that houses three separate connectors.  I just undid each one (taking a picture and making note of which one goes where!) and slid them out of the hole in the fender one at a time.

Speaking of pictures, this one might help...of course someone may have spliced your harness differently!!!
