Who makes an affordable custom oil tank.
« on: December 21, 2008, 11:31:17 AM »
I have gone through a few threads but can't seem to find anything reasonable. I have seen a few that were "incomplete" and would require some tig welding for the bung fittings. Has anyone come up with a reasonable bolt on "custom" tank for these bikes to relocate within the frame rails? I am not a big fan of the sphere tanks either. In my opinion they belong on a chopper looks-wise.

So I am still in the market, still haven't found "the right one" for my bike. Any and all suggestions encouraged and appreciated.

I have been trying to call cyclexchange but that has been like pulling teeth. I am not bashing them because I know they have had some issues in the near past, but I have called at least 10 times. If they had an answering machine set up that would be nice.

What sort of $$$ do you have in mind, Bouncer?
Gammaflat met a shop owner in Wisconsin (I've forgotten the guy's name, but think he's an SOHC4 member) who builds custom stuff for a living. Maybe PM Gammaflat (John) for the guy's name? He said there was a lot of CB750 stuff in that shop.
See SOHC4shop@gmail.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

Blood is thicker than water, but motor oil is thicker yet...so, don't mess with my SOHC4, or I might have to hurt you.

Mark,
It all depends on what they are willing to do. I am looking for a specific look with the tank. I want it to sit in a place that allows me to not run side covers. I would preferably like something with a battery box built in but that is not necessary. I wants something that will sit right where the airbox would be, but something sleek. I somewhat like benji's but it is a bit to boxy looking for $300. But essentially that is the location I would like.

Cheap and custom built, rarely go together.

If you got everything ready, then got someone to weld it, then reasonable might be be able to desribe it..

I never at any point said cheap. There is a very big line between cheap and affordable. I want something that is worth my money.
