Seems they are and have a handy locater on site. Washington and Virginia (my two home states) are listed but no distributors. Ohio, Wisconsin do though so mostly mid-west?

Hah, I used to collect beer cans when I was a kid (an almost perfect symbiotic hobby for a boy and his Dad to have) and when I started up the bike rebuild pop gave me a few garbage bags full of cans he'd kept all these years. I salvaged the ones I liked and mounted them on a wall. Guess what's in there?  ;D

There was a joke about the name and the sound you make if you drink too much.  ;D

'Course that happens if you drink too much of anything.

HA! You have "BEER" beer...so many stories I've heard about that... :D
You're missing the good ol' Rainier though... :(

I'm from Millwauki and I oughta know
That draft-brewed Blatz Beer's- good wherever you go!
Kegs cans of bottles, all taste the same.
The three best is one beer; Blatz is the name.

I still sing that song,
but I like Stroh's  (the only bohemian-style fired-brewed beer in America) better.

My god. You're RIGHT! These were mostly culled from VA grocery stores in the 70's so maybe they didn't distribute there.

I suppose I could correct that oversight myself now although I haven't even seen Rainier in a can that I can remember for a long, long time. Plenty of long necks though  ;)

One of my neighbors was a Blatz beer deliveryman in the 50's.  I remember the tan shirt with the Blatz emblem on the back.  His son has a couple of the old wooden cases that the bottles came in.

A long time ago, Rainier Ale (16oz cans) used to be called Green Death.  When i was a barber, I used to go by Bavarian Cycle Works in San Francisco to do a shop trim.  One guy had a moustache and beer that always seemed to drip Green Death.
Yick.

Okay, I'm not a beer guy, so anything I say is all hearsay.

I used to work with a guy by the name of Blatz. At a bike shop, believe it or not!  He said he was a not so distant relative of the beer maker.  He got the "behind the scenes" tour, and the tour guide said that they should "try to find a way to get the beer back in the horse"!
Go metric, every inch of the way!

Back when I was in college in Milwaukee we drank a lot of Blatz. Three reasons: 1, it was locally brewed (the brewery is now shuttered; 2. Because it was cheap - like $2.50 for a case of returnables (we call them longnecks here in Texas); 3. Because it was a full 1 percent higher alcohol than the other premium brands (yes, at one time it was considered a premium).

I can't tell you I have a lot of god memories of drinking it. That 1 percent greater alcohol was real....

Iggy, If you want, as I should own stock in Rainier, next time I'm up in Seattle, I'll bring you a fullcan for your collection.... ;)

OK< if we're going to talk slogans... does anyone know why Schlitz was "the beer that made Milwaukee famous?"

Maybe you had to be raised in Milwaukee to know this... or to care.

Blatz beer is readily available in Chicago (atleast the bars I go to have it).
Blatz was re-issued this past summer by PABST (who owns it).
