What song?
« on: February 02, 2009, 12:55:09 PM »
Elsewhere in this forum we confess one another whether our bike is a he, a she or an it. What I would like to know: what song comes to your mind if you're really having fun riding. I'll start. When, after some 15 frustrating minutes in the city, finally that nice winding countryroad lies open for me and I can open the throttle to make her howl, automatically this Beach Boys refrain starts in me:

Help me Honda
Help, help me Honda
Help me Honda
Help, help me Honda
Help me Honda
Help, help me Honda
Help me Honda
Help, help me Honda
Help me Honda
Help, help me Honda
Help me Honda
Help, help me Honda
(and I sing the "wah, wah's" as well)

Not that long, mind you, 'cause I can't risk to get carried away, if you know what I mean. So pretty soon I force myself to hum Mozart's Requiem.
How about you guys?

Well I do not go back that far but A common one for me is:

Nobody gonna take my car
Im gonna race it to the ground
Nobody gonna beat my car
Its gonna break the speed of sound
Oooh its a killing machine
Its got everything
Like a driving power big fat tyres
And everything

I love it and I need it
I bleed it yeah its a wild hurricane
Alright hold tight
Im a highway star

Nobody gonna take my girl
Im gonna keep her to the end
Nobody gonna have my girl
She stays close on every bend
Oooh shes a killing machine
Shes got everything
Like a moving mouth body control
And everything

I love her I need her
I seed her
Yeah she turns me on
Alright hold on tight
Im a highway star

Nobody gonna take my head
I got speed inside my brain
Nobody gonna steal my head
Now that Im on the road again
Oooh Im in heaven again Ive got everything
Like a moving ground an open road
And everything

I love it and I need it
I seed it
Eight cylinders all mine
Alright hold on tight
Im a highway star

Nobody gonna take my car
Im gonna race it to the ground
Nobody gonna beat my car
Its gonna break the speed of sound
Oooh its a killing machine
Its got everything
Like a driving power big
Fat tyres and everything

I love it and I need it
I bleed it
Yeah its a wild hurricane
Alright hold on tight
Im a highway star
Im a highway star
Im a highway star

I think it is partly the guitar at the end.

Little Honda usually comes to mind, but after seeing the Honda UK ad where the guy is singing "To Dream The Impossible Dream" while riding various Honda machines, that one goes through my head too.

Sweet hitchhiker by CCR comes along too. I remember a clip in the seventies with him (John Foggerty) riding a Honda.

Born To Be Wild by the Canadian Band Steppenwolfe.

Get your motor runnin'
Head out on the highway
Lookin' for adventure
And whatever comes our way
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die

I like smoke and lightning
Heavy metal thunder
Racin' with the wind
And the feelin' that I'm under
Yeah Darlin' go make it happen
Take the world in a love embrace
Fire all of your guns at once
And explode into space

Like a true nature's child
We were born, born to be wild
We can climb so high
I never wanna die

Born to be wild
Born to be wild

I sing it that loud I'm sure they can hear me inside thier cages  ;D ;D ;D

Little Honda:

GO!
I'm gonna wake you up early,
'Cause I'm gonna take a ride with you.
We're goin' down to the Honda shop,
I'll tell you what we're gonna do.
Put on a ragged sweatshirt,
I'll take you anywhere you want me to.

(Refrain)
First gear; it's alright!
(Honda, Honda; go faster, faster!)
Second gear; I'll lean right!
(Honda, Honda; go faster, faster!)
Thrid gear; hang on tight!
(honda, Honda; go faster, faster!)
Faster; it's alright!!!

It's not big motorcycle;
Just a groovy little motorbike.
It's more than a barrel of monkeys,
That two-wheeled bike.
We'll ride out of town,
to any place you like.

(Repeat Refrain)

It climbs the hills like a Matchless,
'Cause my Honda's built really tight
When I go in to turn on the lights,
So we can ride my Honda tonight

(Repeat Refrain)

Nimrod's Son
The Pixies

One night upon my motorcycle through the desert spead
And smashed my body so that all my friends thought I was dead
My sister held me close and whispered to my bleeding head
"You are the son of a mother #$%*er"

One two three four

I shook all night and held her hand
Chocolate people well I'll be damned
Land of plenty, land of fun
To find out I'm Nimrod's son

Oh bury me
Far away please
Bury me

Ha-haaa
The joke has come upon me

In my motorcycle mirror I think about the life I've led
And how my soul's been aching all the holes where I have bled
My image spoke to me, yes to me and often said
"You are the son of incestuous union"

One two three

Now my head is clear
My roof has walls
My daughter's pure
My son is tall
Land of plenty, land of fun
To find out I'm Nimrod's son

Oh bury me
Far away please
Bury me

Ha-ha Ha-ha
The joke has come upon me
"I believe in the bodies, I believe in the blood, I believe in salt around the rim of the glass because it makes us thirsty, and when we drink, then we all fall in love"

The Hondells were the first to perform it, but the Beach Boys wrote it for them. Later on, the Beach Boys recorded it too.
