They must have put on a different seat terry. The k8 seat, now that is long distance comfort. Well I guess that shows not everyone can pick out a bike. Terry goes and passes up the best find he will get all year! Cause even if he does not like the tank, the k8 engine is structurally stronger but that is no fun i supposeif you like breaking down on them k1s! Could have always ebayed the thing! Hell if the tank was in good shape, I would have bought it!

Oh well, I suppose i should pull over and let them pre-78 Ks catch up! ;D

and bob, harley bashing gets so boring sometime

And I actually like Harleys, they're great bikes. It always makes me laugh when I look at the history of the Jap "Cruiser", how they tried so hard to imitate HD with their "Harley Clones" , while HD never tried to retaliate by building a "Honda Clone" etc.

To me that is a mark of their integrity, they were building V twins in 1903, and still are now. Look at the other old "Marques", the reborn Triumph looks just like a Jap bike, and even BMW are now making an across the frame four with "Hayabusa like" power.

You've got a wonderful AMERICAN Motorcycle icon in the US, and even if American riders don't appreciate their home grown product, the brand will survive because riders around the world respect the brand and embrace it's simple, honest philosophy, and the courage the company has shown to not just fall in line with rest of the manufacturers. Cheers, Terry.  8)
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Nothing wrong with harleys but they just do not have the same performance.
In many cases it is the attitude that is the biggest problem.

See like this whole k thing. I like my K8 for the very reasons terry doesnt but i dont like k0 - 1. Now his F2, thats a different story! I like that. I think the main things i do not like on the early Ks are the fork covers and the front fender braces and maybe other odds and ends.

no no I only snipped a finger tip!  All the Ks would be nice if they did nothave the fork covers and the double brace front fender and had the K8 engine, I only say that since that engine had all the refinements and not all the weak points like the earlier engines "supposedly" had.

2 things on this.first, bob you gotta watch them fingers man and second, terry,it really amazes me about how many people in other parts of the world like and/or love harleys, but in the states they dont get a whole lot of respect.

I think that goes back to the attitude many harley riders assume. Many make their bikes louder than trains almost or sit there at night revving the engine in their garage. I think that is where a lot of it comes from.

I dont mind the sound, it is the volume. If you can go deaf from the bike and not even be riding it, that is a little much. I feel the same way though with any exhaust. It can sound good without being louder than thunder.

I will say the whole "biker gang" thing did not help general public opinion either.

Thats true. Most people I know state the loudness as the main reason they do not like harleys.  myself do not like super loud exhaust but my main thing the performance to cost ratio. PLus I have a hard time finding a harley that I think looks nice. Chrome is ok but the fat fenders gotta go! It would also be nice if they once in a while had a pipe on each side instead of the right all the time.  It is funny but the harleys I Do like are the sportster and v-rod.

They must have put on a different seat terry. The k8 seat, now that is long distance comfort.

Just the other day Doris said" TERRY OH WISE ONE" (she has called me that ever since I brought home the K8) "have you noticed the $900.00 US  Lazy boy recliner is not as comfortable as the K8 seat?"  " Would it be possible to install a K8 seat on it so we all can enjoy the long distance comfort that seat affords you?"  So it's off to eBay to find 4 more seats so my family does not have to suffer.

These K8 seats are hard to find! No one gets rid of them cause they are so good. I hope your wife can wait a while. She might have to share your seat!

Would but I Have not even gotten around to taking pictures of anything for a while. I bet quail has one though.
It looks kinda like this seat on ebay  4581538058

Not as much high where the passenger sits but K7-8 seats are hard to find. There was a k7 seat but it was in poor shape and poor pictures that dont really show much.
