Won't it be difficult for the oil to shed heat sitting right behind the cylinders?

I think Benji is working on an oil tank that sits between the frame rails, forward of the rear wheel. It kinda becomes an inner fender. I checked their web site there was some new cool stuff, but not this.

I sent an email to Benji a while back about this and they sent me a few pictures of one they were working on. The one they have on their site at the moment is square-ish and requires removal of the seat (or a notch cut out) to check/fill. The one they showed me looked like it was close to invisible as it just looked like an inner fender.

hmmm. if it went between the bars closest to the carbs that might be cool.  i'll send benjie an email asking him. thanx.

Since I'm being ignored   ::), I take this is not an issue. :)

Nono, it went in front of the rear tire, between, but not that close to the carbs. As was pointed out earlier, there would be a heat shedding issue, I thought about this a while back, but the oil getting warm from the engine, then the engine getting warm would warm the oil tank more, causing the oil to get warmer. All of this being so close to the carbs, carb bowls especially, would warm the fuel.

If you look at a stock CB750 there is a plastic fender that keeps the rear tire from slinging mud, dirt and stones at the engine, this is replaced by a slim tank.

gotcha.  so the tank under the pods would be a bad idea too.(like bob said. thank you bob.)
i just have a feeling the rear fender style one is gonna be out of my price range.

<SNIP>one is gonna be out of my price range.

I don't remember if they gave me an estimated price, but I cannot see something like that costing much more than any other aftermarket oil tank. Send them an email and inquire about it.

I wouldn't think the tank being under the carbs would be any less effective than a wet sump system.  It would give ya an excuse to add an oil cooler too! :D
