Arkansas
« on: April 02, 2006, 05:57:35 PM »

Anyone in Arkansas, I'm in the west central area (Greenwood, to be exact) so, eastern Oklahoma would be in the area. What about south western Missouri? I'm about 10-12 miles south of
Ft. Smith.  Later on, Bill

I went to Subiaco in the 70's, five miles east of Paris, and about 48 miles east of Ft. Smith. Think I ran in a few track meets in Greenwood back in the day. Going to ride from St. Louis to a class reunion on the 750 in June. Looking forward to passing thru Buffalo River Country between Harrison and Clarksville. I've wanted to make that run for years. Those mountains are awesome. Counting the days ;D.....jim

Hey there Jim,  Sounds like a fun trip. You be careful and have a safe one. I've been in this
area since Dec. 72' when I went to work at Fort Chaffee as a civil service employee. Started out
as a WG- 8 mechanic and retired as a WG-10 equipment inspector. Hope you enjoy your reunion
and I know you'll enjoy those mountains. It'll probably be next year before I'm set up with any
thing to get out on and ride. You take care, it was nice to hear from you and I'm going to get
out of here. Later on, Bill :) ;)

Bill, how far south are you? I am guessing your about 1.5 hrs from me (NW ARK). It would be nice if there were a few more people in South MO and AR with our affliction ( but not too many, I don't want to be accused of being trendy)  ;D. If I get some time off and a street legal machine it would be great to ride down and see some of your projects.

Since I don't know exactly where you are, I can only guess with the aid of Mapquest.

          Fayetteville is about 71.56mi & 1hr 14min away
          Rogers is about 92mi & 1hr 36min
          Eureka Springs is about 126mi & 2hr 23min

Does that give you an idea? I still don't know where you are. NW Arkansas covers a pretty
big area. I've got several "project" bikes but only a couple that are actually in any kind of a
progression, at the moment. I've got some ideas and plans for the others. My main 3
holdbacks are Money, Time and My Other Responsibilities. Main project right now is the 80'
CB750K/Sidecar job, followed by a 77' CB550K. Some would consider the majority of my bikes
"Parts Bikes", Some would say they are "Basket Cases", My wife considers they "Junk" and I
call them "Project Bikes". I'm the sort of person who'd get a basket case to use for parts and
then try to build it up instead of parting it out. I've got way too many now. to date, I've sold
          off 3- 81' XS650 Yamahas & 1- 85' TY350 Yamaha and traded off a 73' TS125 Suzuki for a
250 Jawa 63'-65'? Well, that's about it.   Later on, Bill

hey guys,  fellow "arkies" huh, great!!  I'm down here in southeast arkansas just north of Monticello.  I havent had the CB sickness but a few months but already it's hard for me to go anywhere and keep my eyes on the road for scanning old garages and barns for my next project!!    I got a 76 750A which is very much on the back burner now, and a 71 CB which is my current obsession.  just one carb slide from a heartbeat and a few more lights and a title from total legality!!    Later Bronc
