Well i went to the local dealer and checked on the battery situation. I was still in their database and got reaquaited with my old parts guy, who was happy to see me and was curious to see the CL90 so i said after i got it running i'd run it over for him to check out! the NEW battery cost me $18.95 plus tax! they said they'd fill and charge it and i could get it tuesday as soon as parts dept opened, mike(parts guy) said there is a fellow who is a regular there who restores old Honda singles and he'd LOVE to see the bike and quite possibly have NOS parts or could be helpful in locating them, something to keep in mind!
anyhow, i'll run over today after work to pick up the battery and order a new drive chain...which i tried to soak and revive but 2 links are kinked and will not loosen..i'd feel better with a new chain anyways
til later,
Doug

I find it interesting that a small honda like that was so well taken care of and documented. Usually it seems the smaller ones were the most abused, sorta like why original honda cubs are so scarce when they sold millions of them.

Hoo,
Yeah...the previous owner was a girl who rode the crap out of it while going to College here in the bay area
would you believe it has 17,897 miles on it also? and the condition of it also! when i aswered the ad i was expecting a rotting shell of a bike, but was pleasantly
surprised, I just checked on my battery and it's ready to go and they have a new 428 chain waiting for me for $20! man i love the prices for the parts on this bike and i will keep the folder documenting all the work done to this bike and add my reciepts! Overall i am very happy, the guy who sold it to me gave me new levers and rubber for the shifter and a new rear brake pedal(the other hardly needs replacing) plus a new air filter and gaskets for the carb...one thing that amazes me was the compression it has for the miles shown?!? i checked the oil(which i'll replace) and it seems like it is new or very clean and i'll take that as a good sign i'm guessing. I haven't done a compression check for cylinder pressure but it has way more than my CT90 with 1/2 the miles, but NO reciept for a new piston in the folder! so i'll assume stock bore. Has anybody heard of a bike with similar mileage holding such good compression?
Thanks for EVERYTHING you guys
Doug

Well i got spark and lights...i'll admit i didn't get to the carb as planned but i know that is my problem now, the new chain is on and good to go, removed the uneeded toggle and wires but now i got a cover with a 3/8" hole..i haven't downloaded any pix yet but will after i do the carb. I replaced a missing brake return spring next to the signal switch but i've got 2 wires coming off a factory looking junction on the front brake cable just hanging there and i can't find anything in my manual but a schematic which is not clear and easy to read/interprep and not sure if it's related to the missing speedo cable which is super clear as mud in my 1970 manual...but i'm happy i got spark and lights!! chippin away
