I seen some at a truck shop (used on truck shocks).  They might work and are cheap as dirt.  :)
If I can't see the Engine I can't see the point.......

Cycle-X has them, slightly different than stock...they don't mount to your fork ears.  Stock type are all over eBay, and there are many other bikes that ran gaiters, triumph and yamaha come to mind first. Try Mike's XS   http://www.mikesxs.net/products-19.html  4th from the bottom $20

I'm looking for a set to fit 41mm Showa forks that has the right look with no more than a dozen pleats, but all I'm finding are newer triumph and harley stuff, the latter usually has a markup of 400-500%..... Looks like I'm going to drop $50 into a pair either way.

I'm dropping the stock ears, so I want the one kind slip into the lower clamps/ 5 inches in length.

I think what you said was that you want to run 76 or earlier light ears, then, it should work with stock gaiters.

I will look at an F front end today, can anyone tell me if the ears are same as K? Then I will see if I can make an adaptor the fits up against the lower tree, that will allow the use of gaiters and look OK.

Nope-aftermarket ears, so that entire piece from the upper to lower clamp will be gone. I guess the main concern is that they'll slide into the lower clamp and be the proper length. A measurement of the earlier gaiter should be enough to tell.

Here's some from partsnmore, but they say they'll only fit through '76. Is that because of the stock ear issue? I'm not really clear if the gaitor replaces the dust boot or if they stay in place and slide over??

Gaiters & dust caps both fit into the groove on the top of the fork leg... that is on forks where they go on the outside of the fork.
